The 2008–2010 specials of the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who are five specials that linked the programme's fourth and fifth series. The specials were produced in lieu of a full series in 2009, to allow the new production team for the programme to have enough time to prepare for the fifth series in 2010, in light of Russell T. Davies' decision to step down as showrunner.

The years since the last attempt to revive the programme had seen enormous changes at the BBC, not least in the Drama department; along with battles between different parts of the Corporation over who should get to bring the Doctor back to the screen; and even doubts over whether or not the BBC still held the rights to make the show at all.

Colum Sanson-Regan is an actor who acted as David Tennant's body-double. He stood in for the Tenth Doctor during a scene of Voyage of the Damned, then played a significant role during Journey's End: in scenes where the Tenth Doctor and the Meta-Crisis Tenth Doctor were together, he and Tennant took turns playing the characters. He also played a Roman soldier in The Pandorica Opens and a Weevil in several episodes of Torchwood. He doubled for the Tenth Doctor a final time in The Sarah Jane Adventures story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith.
