"Stop trying to build products you think are cool, and start building products the market you are trying to service thinks is cool."

WHAT IS KICKSTARTER?

https://www.kickstarter.com/

Simply put, it is a way you can start a business. It is a campaign that gives you a way to raise money in order to sell your products and get your business off the ground.

You need to have a working prototype in order to sell there.

You can set your goal for as long as you would like, but be strategic about it.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO APPROACH A KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN?

You have to be SMART when you start your Kickstarter campaign. Starting is great, but you need a strategy too!

You have to build your product for Kickstarter. You need to validate your idea works for the Kickstarter audience before you start spending tons of money.

Emurse yourself in Kickstarter, look at what campaigns and products are doing well there.

Live in your market!

You have to build your email list before you launch your campaign.

WHAT TYPES OF PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND CAMPAIGNS ARE ON KICKSTARTER OUTSIDE OF A PHYSICAL PRODUCT?

A big category is Gaming!

There are many board games and video games that have a huge market.

WHAT WOULD BE THE IDEAL PROCESS TO START ON KICKSTARTER?

First, you have to build that market avatar. Look at the types of people that go on Kickstarter.

What do they like to do?

What do they buy the most?

How do they spend their time?

After you have built the avatar, you need to put it through several qualifiers to see if it can sell on Kickstarter.

It has to be MASS MARKET!

WHAT DO SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGNS HAVE IN COMMON?

There really is not enough data yet to figure this out, the way things sell on Kickstarter are not always consistent.

Kickstarter takes around 5% of what you earn on their site, and if you are unable to raise your goal, you get nothing.

Kickstarter does this to keep people from not filling orders that they have promised those who have contributed to their campaign.
