Defiantly not for boring vanilla sex negative people. Have two more hours to listen but so far very happy. Cant wait to get my hands on my Boyfriend to night he going to get it. This is a good collection of short erotic stories. The voice actors used for this novel are wounderful. My only constructive critisim is that most of these authors take forever advancing the plot of their story. Otherwise this book is well worth your time and money.

3 of the stories were good. The rest of the stories were the most perverted things I have ever read. Is an adult reading about two seventeen years old a pedafile? Lots of BDSM. Sex adiction. Serial killers and murder. Blood and piercings. Afixiation. This book was too extreme for my tastes

Right now with the bad taste still in my mouth from this book I can't say that I will be willing to try another Polly Frost book. That said, I can't really speak about the quality of the writing, plot development or character development as the narration was so poor that it took away from the story. The use of the three voices to tell the stories was not a good choice since it made listening very confusing.

Witty, sexy satire

I didn't know that a frankly erotic book could have a proper plot, and be funny and satirical, until I listened to this one.

The central character is appealing and outrageously libidinous; she has plenty of sex both real and imagined, and displays modest but real character development.

I loved the gentle fun poked at the save-the-planet brigade, so earnest in their political correctness that they even censor their own sexual fantasies.

And the hilarious comic twist at the end had me chuckling at odd moments for days.

I thought it was very well read, too. The peripheral characters are pretty stock: twee Scotswoman, uncompromising activist speaking broad Estuarine, ageing Cambridge don, City millionaire; but so convincingly delivered you almost don't notice how two-dimensional the author has made them. Some American listeners may find the accents take getting used to.

I went back to Audible looking for another book by the same author but drew a blank. Who knows? maybe soon.

Thoroughly recommended.

Imaginative fantasies!

NOT your typical Phd professor! Creative fantasies abound from a constantly aroused female, tantalizing imaginations that are rewarded in unexpected ways. The English setting and accent took a few minutes for this Yank to fully understand...but rewind and listen again - you'll do it a lot anyway just to enjoy the scenes one more time! Deliciously kinky and delightfully detailed.

Smut with an IQ

The best thing about this book is its ability to intelligently raise the issue of the social bondage that can arise from the 'sensitivity' of today's liberated male. (The heroine's first boyfriend refuses sex play because he finds it insulting to women.) I very much enjoyed the author's perceptiveness and found her points convincing and thought provoking. The sexual scenes were quite secondary for me but she does her best there too and succeeds nicely once. The unfortunate thing about the novel is that it has one of those 'you decide how it ends' non-endings that irritate me beyond all else. Other than that - I'd say it's a cut above the rest in the genre. The narration is also among the best I've heard. Top notch.

Good read

I thought the beginning was also kind of slow and at first thought that it was a mistake to buy it. It did get better and you were suddenly reading it for the storyline and not anything else.

I was sort of confused at the end though since it seemed as if it cut off suddenly at an unlikely spot in the book.

I would still definitely recommend this book. I loved the accent of the narrator and it didn't seem hard to follow at all.

Difficult Start But Worth The Time.

I really liked this book although it did take a while to really get into it. It wasn’t necessarily slow, but a little heavy going at first. I did give up a couple of times after the first few chapters, but eventually I was able to get over that and began to enjoy it. Excellent lead narration by Roxie Isles, giving depth and life to the various characters, although I could have done without Glen McReadie co-narrating. However when he did, it really felt like the male lead was talking to me. So somewhat difficult to get into, but a worthy read once you get over that hump.

Fun listen

This book may be a light read but it packs a bunch. It offers a unique insight of the main Lexi's evolution of becoming an exhibitionist and also the relationship between her and her best friend. Very entertaining and covers from childhood to young adulthood. That being said because it does cover so many years the chapters were a little rushed and no real character development which left the book lacking for me. However it's an okay book for an light read.

Consuming story

What did you love best about Dark Secrets?

I very much enjoyed the way the character's fantasies took on a dimension of reality, like her thoughts were so potent they made her actually live out the scenes she was imagining. This aspect was so engrossing, in fact, I'm not entirely sure if the ending was "real" or a real-ized fantasy!

What other book might you compare Dark Secrets to and why?

I have to go with 50 Shades, because whatever a person's opinion on that work, it seems to be the benchmark everybody is familiar with for this genre. Say what you will about that author's technical ability and style, ultimately a book's "goodness" or "badness" comes down to how it makes the reader/listener feel, and how well it does it. THAT is why 50 Shades was so popular. In that regard, despite the much shorter length, I enjoyed Dark Secrets considerably more than that other story.

What does Alexandria Blackstone bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Alexandria does a superb job of narration - storytelling, really. The difference is that she made me feel like I was sitting face to face with the character, in person. She made me forget that this was a fictional story being read to me and made it more real in a dimension wholly different from any available to even the most talented author.

I could go on and on about this story, but nobody wants to read literary analyses. Bottom line: even if you're NOT a fan of erotica, this is an entertaining, engrossing tale, and well worth your time for the experience.

I really liked this story. Short and sweet! It didnt waste time with romance. It got right into the sex. It reminded me of many nights dreaming about others while satisfying myself. Check it out. And the rear window scenes are raunchy just the way I like it. Country girl comes to the big city and finds some interesting sex scenes going on right outside her window. Theres something for everybody and it will bring out the voyeurism in you.
