This is a new series where I interview people with inspiring stories of adventure. To start the series, I interview the most interesting person I know (who also happens to be my girlfriend).
Katie Hatton (Instagram - youve_got_to_wander) has completed a number of adventure that many would consider being "once in a lifetime" journeys. We met in Dec 2018 in China when she was cycling from the UK to Malaysia. After that journey, she walked the length of the UK from Lands End to John O'groats and then walked the Te araroa which takes you from the top of New Zealand to the South. Before this, Katie had run the Marathon des Sables, which is a multi-day ultra-marathon through the Sahara desert, a race often labelled the most difficult in the world.
In this episode, Katie and I discuss her journey from school to completing these epic adventures. We discuss returning from a journey and funding multiple journeys.

A midday recording for a change. In this episode, I'm challenging my previous days doubts with a good burst of positive thinking. I also share my dislike for people that drive huge RVs.

Recently I've started to question my motivations for the journey. When the new and exciting becomes routine and easy, what am I to do?

I appoliogise for the yawns during the recording but I didn't want to edit out the reality of life on a bike tour. It's tiring work sometimes.

A whole year on the road! In some ways it feels like this year has flown by. In other ways it feels like the longest, most full year of my life.
In this podcast (and my diary) I want to be fully honest. I'm recording these episodes mainly for myself in future years to come but if it helps other peoplke understand what it is like to live life on a bike, that is also an added benefit.
