We’re wrapping up May and on the horizon is the first Round of the Canadian Motocross National Series in Calgary Alberta! The ladies recap their last weekend at the local races at Wild Rose MX and talk about their favourite parts of racing. They delve into some thoughts on the first National coming to town and some fun things happening around it like the Team Canada MXON party Friday night! All three ladies will be out in Calgary on June 2nd for the Canadian Pro Men and Women’s racers, so if you see them make sure to slap some high-fives. World traveler Jessica Longname from Tree Three Media just landed back in the great white North after jet setting over to Florida for some fun in the sun! Good ol’ Florida fashion Jess got the full no helmet law experience in her hotel parking lot. Happy May everyone! With a new month starting the Bikes, Berms & Brews crew recap April and set some goals for May. Lexi Pechout raced the SOR Enduro Series and finished 2nd in Ladies Pro which is 8th overall in all classes! Lexi delves into what the event looked like and gets you the loam report from Brooks. In good old Alberta Canada fashion the first location was cancelled due to 1.5ft of snow and the second location in Brooks two hours away was gale force winds. The event went off and racers are hyped! Lexi and Danika then test Jess  with some off-road enduro slang knowledge which leads into some SurfinBerms event hype. The SurfinBerms Ladies Only Two-Wheeled campout Camp Huckabuck is happening July 19th to 21st in Central Alberta, and tickets are live! Well, we just wrapped our first SurfinBerms Ladies MX ride of the season and with sub-zero temps the crew is still trying to warm up while recording this episode! The Berms Community Builder ride went off with a bunch of new riders coming out to Wild Rose MX, the stoke was real. Jess from Tree Three Media was out there shooting photos of the ride and captured the vibe of the evening, while Lexi and Danika lead some lead laps. The ladies get to reminisce on some memorable moto products from their early riding times while discussing the gear swap at Berms. Dani Poupart is a super humble, women’s sport ambassador and all-around bad ass! Dani is a great inspiration to our group and happens to be our very own Jess Longname’s better half. She may come off quiet but she’s as much reserved as she is spicy, you just have to get her out on the ice! We sit down with Dani for a different perspective on women in sports and what sport means to her. She was a top-level Canadian Women’s Hockey player that went and played for Manhattanville college Valientes in New York, now present day CPGA Golf Professional. We delve into the journey to get to the top of the game, what it looks like when that ended, finding your identity, and getting introduced into a new passion. During this journey Dani found dirt bikes, and still owns the beauty green machine. Some insight into different sports with a sprinkling of two-wheels. We say it all the time, but time just flies by! The crew hasn’t seen each other for two weeks as they were out adventuring around two-wheel activities right after the Women in Motorsports Networking Event. Vibes are high with the crew after Lexi Pechout and Danika White got invited to the GAME ON Women and Girls in Sport celebration! This event was done with the City of Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek to celebrate Women and Girls in Sport on International Women’s Day 2024. Lexi, Danika and Lola one of the SurfinBerms shredders were honoured to represent non-traditional sports, which was motocross, at the event. We’re thankful for all aspects of what our sport has given us, and it was so impactful seeing how we have many similar experiences across all sports with the other 200 women that were at this celebration. This sparked a lot of the conversation into this episode. How do we grow our sport as a whole, it’s not in the Olympics does that matter, forward thinking what’s next, how can we keep growing the female demographic in dirt biking? Deep conversations from three different perspectives and some fun stories in-between. Sometimes you can’t believe how small the world is, but bikes sometimes even make it smaller! We are so thankful the amazing individuals that bikes have intertwined us with.
