Have you ever wondered why some athletic endeavors come so easily to certain people?

For instance, some people can just jump out of the gym.

Others can run for days and never seem to tire.

And some can squat or deadlift the equivalent of a compact car while barely breaking a sweat!

Well if you’ve ever wondered how body shapes impact your ability to express athleticism then THIS is the show for you.

Bill Hartman is known for finding solution for people in pain that have failed with other forms of treatment. He’s the owner of IFAST Physical Therapy, and my business partner at Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training for over 15 years now.

But beyond his skills as a physical therapist, he’s probably more well-known these days for creating what he describes as “The Model” – which is a truly unique way to looking at human movement, and what we’ll be focusing on in this show.

All measurements on the table are dirty. All movements are multi-factorial. But the goal is to start to shift the probabilities in our favor. – Bill Hartman

This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast:

* A little bit about Bill, and what’s new since the last time we were on the show.

* What prompted him to create “The Model.”

* The two archetypes, and why having a Wide or Narrow infrasternal angle (ISA) impacts your movement.

* What’s the difference between an archetype and a configuration? And why should you care?

* Why Bill took the standard, 3-plane movement model and condensed it down to one.

* The role of table testing in his assessment process.

* Should trainers and coaches take them time to learn table tests? And if so, where should they start?

* Bill’s thoughts on the gait cycle, and why foot contacts are so important for improving movement strategy.

* Why “flat feet” aren’t necessarily a bad thing.

* How shifting your center of gravity back can unlock your mobility and reduce pain in the ankles, knees, hips and lower back.

* What Bill wished he knew earlier in the process, and what he’s working on now to take his model to the next level.

* Last but not least, a really found lightning round where we talk Van Halen concerts, 80’s movies, and Bill’s budding music career.

IFAST University is BACK! Are You In?

Are you ready to take your coaching and training career to the next level?

You need to find great mentors to guide you along your journey – to help you find the blind spots in your own training programs and improve your skills as a coach.

But… mentorship can be expensive, and unfortunately, it’s not always feasible for some budgets.

That’s why Bill Hartman and I developed IFAST University, an online curriculum and mentorship program designed exclusively for fitness trainers, coaches, and rehab professionals.
