Today I wanted to interview you about the Talmud Jmmanuel.
There we go, already starting with Talmud Jmmanuel,
because there's always a ‘J’ in Jmmanuel.
Billy:
Yes.
MichaelVoigtlaender:
Why is that? Why is there no ‘I’?
Billy:
Because the word is not Immanuel, but Jmmanuel.
MichaelVoigtlaender:
Jmmanuel actually, okay. Good.
Well, then I've always said that wrong.
Billy:
That's... Originally the name was really Jmmanuel and not Immanuel,
in German one just says Immanuel,
but in reality, originally it's Jmmanuel.
MichaelVoigtlaender:
Ah, okay. Because I've already seen the name spelt with the ‘I’
and also with the ‘E’, but it's Jmmanuel?
Billy:
‘I’ is just written in German, but the correct spelling would be ‘J’.
MichaelVoigtlaender:
‘J’, good, okay.
Billy:
That's been spelt wrong since time immemorial, I don't know who started it.
MichaelVoigtlaender:
Yes.
Yes, that's important, today I actually wanted to talk less about the Talmud itself,
but rather the whole prior history... because there are still questions about that
and there will continue to be questions in the future,
and although it is broadly described,
yet there are still a few issues,
that are perhaps additionally interesting.
So, there were three or rather four translations or four editions,
thus 1975, then 78, the 3rd edition was 91,
and then I think there wa
