Today is the 9th of November 2025, and we will continue with the Talmud Jmmanuel, Chapter 6.
Good.
Okay. This is about , although it is titled ‘The Alms, The Fasting, The Treasures, The Concerns’,
it's mainly about the edification.
And I’d best read this out loud again briefly,
"Be heedful of your piety (piousness, virtuousness, honourableness, etc.),
that you practice it before the people with correct words,
lest you be accused of lying
and thereby find no reward from them.".

Billy:

First of all, we have to explain what piety actually is.
It has nothing to do with religion.
Piety is quite simply this: a human being is pious,
when they practise edification properly, think properly, act properly, and so on and so forth,
which has been called piety since time immemorial.
Meaning that they are dedicated to the issue with honesty and dignity,
when they act correctly in terms of their thoughts, their behaviour, and so on and so forth,
that is what has been called piety since time immemorial.
And why this was changed to ‘piety’ in the sense of religion,
which, of course, means or has come to mean ‘the human being believes’,
how that came about, I don’t know.
But the original concept of ‘pious’ really only referred to
that the human being is honest, dignified,
thinks matters through properly, applies their insight correctly, and so on and so forth.
So ‘pious’, ‘piety’ has absolutely nothing to do with religion, i.e. with belief, and so on and so forth,
but with what the human being really is and does.
They are pious, they are honest, they are truthful, and so on and so forth,
that is actually the original concept of ‘pious’.
