Everything's coming to a close as Billy Joel ends his residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City and Elon & Dave were there. Thursday July 25, 2024 to a sold out crowd as usual was the final night. Tickets were not cheap and the place was rockin'. HOWEVER, what our heroes may have been expecting was not what they received. This week's podcast is Elon & Dave's very different takes on the final show of Billy Joel's unprecedented ten year residency and 150th show at the legendary Madison Square Garden.

To wrap up the Z's - we decided to do a LIVE show combined with the Comedy Cellar Nightly Show Dave hosts every week down in the West Village at the legendary Comedy Cellar. Listeners were told in advance to zoom in and talk Billy Joel A to Z with us. So it's Elon and Dave live in studio, Paul Loren on remote (with his piano of course) and comedian Dan Naturman, who thought he knew Billy Joel but doesn't seem to be familiar with songs like, "December Song" - I mean. . . . It was so much fun seeing everyone live who's been on this journey with us as we wind the podcast down. This is it: The last song in the alphabet by Billy Joel. Today is Zanzibar. The absolute fan favorite off of 1978's 52nd Street. Elon and Dave find out today that the song is about a sports bar and not some exotic place in Tanzania. It kind of ruins the song a little bit BUT, it still grooves so. . . join the boys today on their final song episode - and remember - when we started this podcast a new song wasn't even a hope of thought but . . . times have changed in Billy Joel world. We just hope it's a song that starts with a "Ze". 😉

We were really thrilled to have Tony winner, David Yazbek be our obvious "Y" guest for Billy Joel A to Z this episode. David has composed the Broadway musicals, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Tootsie and The Band's Visit, with which he won the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year. His new play is entitled, Dead Outlaw and he's here today to talk about that, his musical influences and, of course, Mr. William Joel. Fascinating episode for someone who has run the gamut in beginning as a writer on the Late Show with David Letterman, creating tv themes you may know and reaching the pinnacle of his field.

Hi everyone. There's no reason to make a wrap up of a Greatest Hits Album BUT, this was a special day as Elon, Dave and Paul were all together in the same room for the first time in 3 years and over 200 episodes. We usually record on zoom together so this was a special occasion and since we had just finished, "You're Only Human" we figured, why not just talk about everything, which is technically a greatest hits album. Of course there's the controversy of what is a "hit" and all that but don't worry - no rankings or anything tedious, just 2 fans and Dave talking about Billy Joel. 😉
