On the latest episode of Tangents of Creation, hosts Jamie Kaos and Anie Lace discuss the April Dev Stream for Ashes of Creation, which focused on the Alpha 2 Mage preview. The episode covers the combat mechanics and display, as well as the various spells and abilities available to mages. The hosts explore the different systems in place to initiate various forms of conflict/friction, giving an opportunity to dive into the political aspects of Ashes of Creation and working on creating opportunities for smaller groups to affect change.
The episode highlights the beautiful environment of the game, as well as the ability bar, which includes a shift modifier. The mage class is described as very magical and mystical, with a light and floaty feel to it. The hosts discuss the different spells available, such as Cone of Cold, Chain Lightning, and Sleep, as well as the elemental empowerment system, which allows players to rotate spells and elements to create different combos.
Finally, the hosts touch on the gilding update and the Thunderbolt glider, as well as the terrain of the game, which is described as organic and full of different elevations and choke points.
