Binge Media

From a career standpoint, the years 2004 - 2013 were not very kind to Keanu Reeves. Sure, The Matrix had made him very wealthy, and his internet reputation was about as good as a celebrity could get without Harvey Weinstein sized payoffs. But with the exception of 2005's IMO underrated Constantine, Reeves was having trouble finding a new franchise to stomp out of the gate with. 47 Ronin anyone? But along came 2014, and a little movie about a guy who killed two men with a pencil.

Join me, Alyx, and Jack as we look at the two films of the ever growing John Wick franchise, and wonder if it was by fluke or crook that Reeves once again found box office gold. Is the movie worth its reputation? Or is it guilty of building a John Wick type aura where everyone fears it, but talks highly of it anyway? Download below to find out.

Be sure to tune in next week when we look at 2017's John Wick Chapter 2, as well as talk about what is planned for the rest of The Aftertaste's year.

PJ is in Disney this week and leaves me to pilot the Sportscast solo(so selfish).  He is thoughtful enough to leave a BSV(again, selfish). The VM's are NBA playoff heavy and we get perspectives from Philly, Minnesota, Detroit(Orlando) and NJ. Consensus: LeBron is King. I cannot help but bring up the NY Mets a few times(I know, selfish) and also give some props to the team across town(gross).

A special thanks to Ed Mariachi, Chad D and PC from Philly for the great BSV's!  PJ not so much. Stop drinking...

0:02:14-Bingecast. Law. Moreno. Pete. Cinco De Mayo (well it was). 5 years of Binge Media. Cinco years. Kupka was involved helping with Tech Diff. Pete provides some trivia on the first Binge Media shows. Phones. Beepers.

Here it is, a series of podcasts thirty years in the making. With Ready Player One making a huge splash on the box office, I wanted to honor it by turning the clock back for this retro, in which we look at four films that are highly regarded by a whole generation of film goers. But how will we see them years later?

By the time 1984 rolled around, Star Wars was over (for now), and people were starved for fantasy. Out came director Wolfgang Peterson's (Das Boot) The Neverending Story. A movie that captured an audience right on the upswing, two of which are on this podcast. But what about the third?

After a three round bout with me that ended in a draw on last week's Labyrinth review, Matthew Goudreau is back to watch The Neverending Story for the very first time. How will he respond to it?

This question is the perfect one to end on, as this was one of the most fun set of podcasts I have ever done. Special thanks to both Matt and Logan for helping make that possible. And a reminder to stay tuned next week, as I bring Alyx and Jack back to review the John Wick series.

See you later Navigators!

The moment we have all been waiting a decade for is here and Avengers Infinity War is out and tearing up the box office.  In this episode, Batch and Logan give their own spoiler-filled review of the film and their favorite moments but also trace back and relate how the original Infinity Gauntlet mini-series has influenced the film.  We speculate how Avengers 4 will fix everything by introducing characters from the books not yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The boys also discuss the Venom trailer, Logan gives an Invincible update and much more.

PJ and TM are back to discuss the NFL Draft results and how this rookie class will impact their new teams come(gross) the 2018 season.  LeBron James has taken care of the Pacers, and begins his dominance of Toronto while the boys record.  A live Sports commentary almost breaks out, but since PJ has real cable(so old) and TM is streaming it doesn't come together(GROSS).

BSV has Ed Mariachi checking in to update Us on yet another SF Giant game he attended and previews yet another he will be attending later this week.  This guy is the epitome of a die hard(what the F is happening right now?) fan.

PJ drops a pre-show drop of TM, and TM throws the flag.  PJ is benched next week.  F That. Time to Booze.

Contrary to what emails I have received about us lead you to believe, Big Brain on Matt and I have had bouts of contention before. Just listen to our Terminator Genisys show for one example of such. But as much as we debated and grabbed each other's throats about that film, I don't believe we have ever gotten as confrontational as we do on this one. What's funny about it is the film in question, 1986's Labyrinth, is a movie made for intentions of having fun. Yet, we make it into a fight.

Stuck in the middle of this mess is one BingeCast TimeStamper Logan James. How will he react to the adversity, and how does he feel about the David Bowie-Jennifer Connelly starring George Lucas production? Listen below to find out, and be sure to come back next week for the final film of our series The Neverending Story. How much will we fight about that one? Ask Atreyu.
