This episode journeys to the Galápagos islands where we investigate everyone’s favorite sterile, PTSD-ridden conservation leftovers. The islands are known for their iconic wildlife, but those dumb finches get plenty of attention, we wanna talk about the goats! And the absolutely insane honeypot style scheme to eradicate them. And the tortoises! Well, mostly just one named George. Have you ever wondered why goats hate helicopters? Wanna know how to get oil from a tortoise? Have you ever felt the deeply scientific urge to poke Chris Evans’ peck? Well so did lonesome George… possibly, I mean we can’t prove he didn’t. Pour yourself a Pina Colada and climb down into the cold, damp, turtle-filled hold of the HMS Beagle cause it’s island time baby!

Hey everybody pees! You, me, astronauts, even lobsters pee. Sometimes pee smells like asparagus, or buttered popcorn. Sometimes it’s clear, or yellow, sometimes the medication you’re taking turns it blue. No matter what, you got to get rid of all that gross urea, but if you happen to be an orphaned baby animal, or like.. in space, peeing is gonna be kind of a big ask. Find out how they do it, and how many rats it takes to pee as much as a human.
We also go on wild tangent about possums. And lobster sex. So, you know, a pretty typical episode.

It’s season 2 baby! And to kick things off we’re going to ask and answer all the hearing-related questions you’ve never wanted to know the answers to. What has better hearing a frog or a parakeet? How does bat echolocation even work? If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around to hear it, does it listen to Indian kirwani music? Can my chicken hear me sing to her? Are ghosts real? As usual, things go off the rails, and you’ll have to suffer through several minutes of ASMR to find out the answers. Sorry about that. Get yer listening ears ready for this sonic journey into the science of hearing!
PSA: If you are like Kelsey and would rather eat a lightbulb than listen through the ASMR bit, it runs from 0:01:55 to 0:06:05 feel free to skip it, we understand. The transcript for that section is below so you don’t have to miss the fun facts.
