Jonathan obtained his PhD degree in biostatistics from University of North Carolina and currently works as a principle data scientist in Calico life science which is a health care biotech company that focuses on combating aging and aging related diseases. His main research interest has been focused on improving the mathematical modeling and downstream analysis of mass spectrometry proteomics experiments which involves missing data techniques, Bayesian hierarchical modeling, clustering and compositional data analysis.

The main focus of her research is to utilize statistical techniques in addressing significant problems in environmental health science, pollution and climate change. Her studies have resulted in a direct and continuous impact on air quality policies, leading to more stringent standards for ambient air quality in the United States. In addition, she has a keen interest in Bayesian causal inference methods for large-scale observational data and their potential application to comparative effectiveness research in cancer.

Dr. Heath is Canada Research Chair in Statistical Trial Design, a scientist in the Child Health and Evaluative Sciences Program at Sickkids Research Institute, an assistant professor in the division of Biostatistics in University of Toronto, and an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Statistical Science in University College London. Other than all these fancy titles, she is also the supervisor for my masters practicum project and opened the door to the whole new, amazing world of Bayesian statistics to me.

So of course, I am so thrilled to be hosting Dr. Heath on the show today! Carl obtained his PhD in statistics from North Carolina State University and currently is working as the director of biostatistics at Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, where he acts as senior reviewer and lead biostatistician in clinical trials in neurology, designs innovative Bayesian adaptive phase 1 first-in-human single ascending dose study for a new compound at Sunovion and collaborates with Frontier Business Division within Sunovion to drive clinical trials for a digital therapeutics medical device to treat social anxiety.
