If you have volunteered with RPBO or visited the Pedder Bay banding station the past couple of years during the Northern Saw-whet Owl project, then you probably have met Owl bander Rebecca Golat. But, did you know that she is also involved in a number of other birdie and environment projects around the region? This year Rebecca will be at the banding stations for her first year as a passerine bander!

After a long and distinguished career at the helm of some of the greatest ships in the Royal Canadian Navy, Kim Beardmore is now steering the Rocky Point Bird Observatory as President. We had a chance to talk to him about his naval career and birding while at sea as well as some of the challenges facing RPBO and his vision for the future.

Also, an update on the MAPS project, a rare sighting on the Seawatch project and a new feature that we are calling Bird Babble Chirp!

On this episode we talk to David Bell and Siobhan Darlington who have been banders with the Rocky Point Bird Observatory during the fall migration season the past two years. On October 1, 2019 they were both involved with a very special bird that visted the Rocky Point banding station and they tell us what happened on that special day.

We also talk about their winter trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, a very cool PhD cougar project that Siobhan is involved in around the Kelowna, BC area.
