For today’s show, guest host Douglas Haynes is joined by Jeff Galligan and Rita Flores Wiskowski to talk about their work with the BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin.

Topics include “bird joy,” birding and mental health, citizen science, and some tips to get started on your own birding journey.

Jeff Galligan is a co-founder of the BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin, a member of the Madison Audubon’s board of directors, and the director of the TRIO Student Support Services and Men of Excellence programs at Madison College.

Rita Flores Wiskowski is the Milwaukee Area Coordinator of the BIPOC Birding Club of Wisconsin. She also serves on the board of the Wisconsin Metro Audubon Society, where she has been tasked with creating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
