Birds on Power Lines

Star Wars is a big part of our lives. We never miss any of the movies or spin off series. Oddly, this is our first Star Wars themed podcast. We share what we thought about each episode of The Acolyte, and of course go on tangents to other series and topics while we do so. We recorded this podcast just before it was announced that the show will not have another season.

Did you watch The Acolyte? What did you think?

If you haven't listened to our podcasts before, we usually message each other to share our thoughts as we discuss a variety of topics as we go about our day. Here, of course, we sat down together for the conversation.

Since season 3 of Good Omens seems to be moving forward with Amazon, we decided to slowly review each episode from seasons 1 and 2 and record our thoughts and perspectives. For this podcast we're discussing the first three episodes of season 1 - In the Beginning, The Book and Hard Times.

For full disclosure - yes - there is a discussion that involves Neil Gaiman insofar as he is an author of Good Omens with Terry Pratchett - and the nature of how Terry convinced Neil to get Good Omens on screen. We are fans of both authors' works, and the discussion is limited to that. Thank you.

Sometimes we have some topics we would like to share, but they might not provide enough fodder for a full podcast - so we are starting BoPL Musings to collect these ideas together. This is the first of these podcasts.

In this first Musings, we talk about The National Theatre Live's production of Nye, staring Michael Sheen. We also discuss a quote from John Green's Crash Course lecture on TB (Tuberculosis). Later, we talk about Twenty One Pilots' Clancy album, and The Hobbit graphic novel. Additionally, we had a great opportunity to see Neil Gaiman in person with Art Spiegelman. We conclude by discussing what we're reading now, among other things.

We really hope you enjoy our first Musings.

Not sure why I flubbed these as they were in my notes! I guess I was so excited to tell you about Nye, my brain just forgot. But, the NHS is for the United Kingdom – not just England.

Tommy Douglas was Donald Sutherland’s Father-in-Law!

I apologize if these flubs caught you.

I did provide notes of the corrections in the video version on YouTube, and added a few words about these ideas at the end of the audio only version of the podcast.

If you haven't listened to our podcasts before, we typically use a voice messenger app to share our thoughts with each other to discuss a variety of topics as we go about our day.

In this episode, however, we sat down, turned on the camera, and were able to record our thoughts together.

We are slowly working our way back through season 1 of The Sandman. Since we saw that season 2 is well underway, we thought taking our time to revisit the episodes would be a good idea. For this podcast then we reflect on Sleep of the Just, Imperfect Hosts and Dream a Little Dream of Me.

We had a great time watching Dead Boy Detectives! For this podcast we were together, so we could sit down and do a 'live', spontaneous - video - podcast reflecting on our favorite scenes from all of season one. If you are listening to us on an audio platform, you can see us on video recording this episode at our YouTube location. We had fun trying this new approach - being unscripted and on video - and will likely repeat this format in future.

In this podcast we discuss our thoughts on the last four episodes of Doctor Who Season 14 - Dot and Bubble, Rogue, The Legend of Ruby Sunday and Empire of Death. We had a lot to discuss, and so many questions that were left unanswered. It was a great season, and I 'think' our favorite episode ended up being Rogue. What did you think of the season? What did we leave out? Which was your go to episode and why? Let us know! Cheers!

In this episode we share our love of the documentary, Somebody Feed Phil season 7. There is so much about this show that we adore and look forward to. There is only one problem - now we have to wait until season 8 for more food and adventures with Phil Rosenthal. Listen in to hear our highlights as Phil shares his experiences in Mumbai, Washington D.C., Kyoto, Dubai, Orlando, Iceland, Taipei, and Scotland. Do you watch Phil? Did you catch any of season 7? What was your best highlight? And really - is Ethiopian food still a 'thing' in Washington D.C.? We want to know your take! And really, as Phil would say, "Come on!" "Just try it!"

In this podcast we discuss our thoughts on the first four episodes of Doctor Who Season 14 - Space Babies, The Devil's Chord, Boom and 73 Yards. As always, our conversation brings in ideas from other shows like Stargate SG1 and Star Trek TNG.
