Bishop Michael Burbidge delivers the homily at the annual African Ancestry Mass at Holy Cross Church in Durham.  The Annual African Heritage Celebration is held each November during Black Catholic History Month.

Bishop Michael F. Burbidge offer his homily at the Mass for Deceased Clergy on November 4th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Newton Grove.  The Mass remembers bishops, such as Bishop Vincent S. Waters and Bishop F. Joseph Gossman, who are both buried in the OLOG cemetery, as well as priests, deacons, consecrated religious and lay faithful of the diocese. The Mass is traditionally celebrated at the outdoor altar in the parish cemetery.

The annual Red Mass offers prayers and gratitude to those serving in the legal and judicial professions.  It was held this year on October 21st at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Raleigh.  In his homily, Bishop Burbidge tells us to "travel lightly," as Jesus told the disciples, when going out into the world spreading the Good News.

To honor the sacred vocation of marriage, Bishop Michael Burbidge annually celebrates a special Wedding Anniversary Mass.  Couples who are celebrating their 25th, 50th, or 50 plus years of marriage are recognized.  This year's Mass was on October 16 at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Cary.

Bishop Burbidge delivered the homily at the the Prayer for Peace In Our Communities service on Friday, September 9th.  In the prayer service, Bishop Burbidge called families to gather together and pray for peace in our country and in our communities, with special attention paid to racially motivated violence and attacks against law enforcement.

On his 10th anniversary as Bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh, Bishop Burbidge reflects on his ministry and looks to the future.
