  • Scott Ellam: I Bought Bitcoin Through An 80% Drawdown And Didn't Tell My Staff | Bitcoin & The Long Game

Scott Ellam put Bitcoin on his company's balance sheet in 2021 and kept buying every week through an 80% drawdown — while most of his own staff had no idea. He's now CEO and founder of XCE, the executive recruitment group that listed on the public markets with a Bitcoin treasury already in place. The episode opens on the career that didn't happen: rugby league from age four, a university side that went unbeaten for seven years, and a professional debut lasting nineteen minutes before every ligament in his knee gave way.The conversation covers the move into recruitment, founding Spencer Riley in 2014, and a childhood obsession with why the people around him were borrowing to buy property — an unwitting lesson in currency debasement. Scott found Bitcoin in 2016: a fixed supply solving a problem he was already living with as a UK founder invoicing US clients. Then March 2020, one week after moving the business into Leeds city centre. Lockdown hit, he had a cash reserve and a plan to poach every top biller in the city, and then watched the Chancellor — in his words — double the money supply and halve his reserve overnight. He committed the balance sheet to Bitcoin the following year. The second half examines the model itself. Why executive recruitment is uniquely ripe for consolidation, how a PLC structure combined with a Bitcoin treasury solves the industry's two unsolved problems — equity for billers, an exit for owners — and how an acquisition can be close to cash neutral on day one. Discussion also covers hiring for the Bitcoin industry, why nobody moves for money, what elite athletes actually do after sport, and Scott's four categories of Bitcoin treasury company, including the opportunistic ones now pivoting to gold and AI.CONTACT SCOTT:💬 X: https://x.com/btconlyscott💼 LinkedIn: https://uk.linkedin.com/in/scott-p-ellam-5a097449Peter Lane - https://x.com/peterlane1985 George Boyd - https://x.com/gboyd9 CoinCorner - https://x.com/coincorner XCE - https://x.com/xceofficial VEIN - https://x.com/VEIN_intelSponsors CoinCorner XCE VEINXCE is a sponsor of this podcast and is a publicly listed company (AQSE: XCE / OTCQB: XCELF). • Peter McCormack: Building Real Bedford, the Bitcoin Football Club | Bitcoin & The Long Game

Peter Lane and George Boyd sit down with Peter McCormack — the OG Bitcoin podcaster who built What Bitcoin Did into the biggest Bitcoin podcast in the world, owner of Real Bedford FC, and now host of The Peter McCormack Show. The conversation kicks off with his relentless work ethic, the unconventional path from advertising to addiction to recovery, and how the dark web led him to buy his first Bitcoin for £80.

From there, the conversation covers building What Bitcoin Did, why he became convinced Bitcoin was the only viable winner, and how it liberated his thinking on everything from money to free speech and cancel culture in football. They move through Real Bedford's rise up the pyramid, what it actually takes to run a club on Bitcoin, and the impact it's had on the town.

The latter half touches on AI and creativity — including the tools Peter's been building with Claude, from a real-wage calculator to a system that fact-checks every MP — plus why he handed What Bitcoin Did to Danny and launched a politics-focused show instead. There's also a blunt take on why Britain stopped working, why he no longer votes, and Real Bedford's five-year plan. Bitcoin runs through it all as the asset, the mindset, and the reason the club exists.

  • Steve Baker: The West is Broke & Bitcoin is the Answer | Bitcoin & The Long Game

Peter Lane and George Boyd go political with Steve Baker — former Conservative MP and likely the first person to say "Bitcoin" in the Houses of Parliament.Peter Lane and George Boyd go political with Steve Baker — former Conservative MP and likely the first person to say "Bitcoin" in the Houses of Parliament. From his background as an aerospace engineer turned Austrian School economist, Baker explains why state money has been failing since long before most people noticed, how money is actually created, and why almost nobody inside regulated finance or government truly understands it.

The conversation covers unsustainable debt, the demographic squeeze, and whether crisis is the only thing that forces real reform — with a sharp take on why wealth inequality is a monetary problem, not a tax one. Baker outlines his Fighting for a Free Future project, and Peter and George bring it home through Bitcoin and gold as the only assets that are nobody else's liability — and why that matters more than ever as purchasing power quietly disappears.

  • Ben Mee: From Man City's Academy to Premier League Captain | Bitcoin & The Long Game Podcast

Former Premier League and England under-21 defender Ben Mee joins Peter Lane and George Boyd for a wide-ranging conversation about elite sport, business, and long-term wealth. Early on, they dig into the Man City academy, what it meant to win the FA Youth Cup, and how training alongside world-class players like Aguero, De Bruyne, and Hazard shaped Ben's development long before he played a first-team minute. The discussion turns to his move to Burnley under Eddie Howe, 11 years of Premier League football under Sean Dyche, and the sharp contrast of then joining Brentford's data-driven, analytics-first environment — a culture shock that tested even a seasoned professional. They work through what that transition revealed about adaptability, how elite managers approach the game differently, and what the art of defending looks like in an era obsessed with attacking flair. The latter half touches on Ben's plans beyond football, including Season One — his education and recruitment platform helping young people find careers inside the game — and why having a financial plan from the start of your career matters more than most players realise. The Bitcoin side of things comes in through Ben's own journey: buying in 2018, selling on his financial advisor's advice, buying back in, and gradually going deep down the rabbit hole. Peter and George explore why traditional financial advice has a structural blind spot around Bitcoin, and what it means when a lifelong learner like Ben describes spending over a thousand hours researching it.Follow on X:Ben Mee - https://x.com/Ben6MeePeter Lane - https://x.com/peterlane1985George Boyd - https://x.com/gboyd9CoinCorner - https://x.com/coincornerXCE - https://x.com/xceofficialVEIN - https://x.com/VEIN_intelSponsorsCoinCornerXCEVEINEdited by James Pearcehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/james-pearcesf/#Bitcoin #BTC #BenMee #Football #BitcoinAndTheLongGame #Podcast

  • Mark Cueto: Life After Rugby for an England International | Bitcoin & The Long Game Podcast

England international rugby winger Mark Cueto joins Peter Lane and George Boyd for a wide-ranging conversation about what elite sport teaches you about performance, resilience, and money. They start with grassroots sport and why the culture around rugby can build better habits in young players, from processing wins and losses to learning how to handle conflict properly.

Mark reflects on his unusual path into professional rugby, how quickly things changed once he arrived at Sale, and what it felt like going from a modest first contract to believing he could genuinely make a career at the top level. The conversation moves through England call-ups, the realities of international rugby, and how elite sport trains you to move on fast, even after the biggest moments.

They also discuss life after retirement, running businesses, and why financial decisions matter even more when your peak earning window is short. Peter and George introduce Mark to Bitcoin through the lens of long-term savings, broken money, and the importance of understanding the system before choosing a solution.

  • Marc Pugh: From Maximum Performance to The Foodie Footballer | Bitcoin & The Long Game Podcast

Marc Pugh wanted to be the best version of himself on the pitch. That obsession with performance led him to nutrition — and eventually changed his life off it.

A professional footballer for nearly 20 years, Marc took his drive for peak performance into a nutrition course during his playing days. That single decision led him to become The Foodie Footballer — a platform exploring the relationship between food, fitness, and long-term wellbeing.

In this episode, Marc joins Peter Lane and George Boyd to talk about marginal gains, identity after football, building something of your own, and why thinking long-term — in health, in finances, in life — is the most important habit any athlete can develop.
