In the Parable of the Ten Virgins, Jesus tells a story about a party of virgins, perhaps bridesmaids or torchbearers for a procession, chosen to participate in a wedding.

Jesus is teaching His disciples, and us by extension, that forgiveness should be in like proportion to the amount forgiven.

The rich man was completely indifferent to the plight of Lazarus, showing him no love, sympathy, or compassion whatsoever. Eventually, they both died. Lazarus went to heaven, and the rich man went to hell.

The inclusion of the Gentiles is a fulfillment of Hosea 2:23, “I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’” God is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

The implication here is that God's vineyard was being opened to the Gentiles—and anyone who would submit themselves to the Jesus, the cornerstone.

The basic story is of a man with two sons who told them to go work in the vineyard. The first son refused, but later obeyed and went. The second son initially expressed obedience, but actually disobeyed and refused to work in the vineyard.

The key to understanding the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant is the analogy of sin as a debt. It's only because the king forgives the servant, who isn't worthy or deserving, that the debt is abolished.

In these parables Jesus paints with words a beautiful picture of God’s grace in His desire to see the lost return to Him. Men seek honor and avoid shame; God seeks to glorify Himself through us His sheep, His sons and daughters.
