  • Who Pays the Price?, the Human Cost of Cheap Electronics
Heather S. White, the award-winning, non-profit executive and researcher with 25 years of experience in international advocacy on labor and human rights issues released on You Tube and Facebook scenes from her unfinished film depicting the terrible human toll on young Chinese workers in the production of iPhones, mobilizing activists to pressure Apple. Becoming a movement, it took on a life of its own, ultimately championed by such activist organizations as China Labor Watch and Green America.
White's Who Pays the Price?, the Human Cost of Cheap Electronics profiles injured and chemically poisoned young Chinese workers in factories that manufacture the world's leading electronics brands. Several of her subjects have been discarded by their factories after being diagnosed with leukemia. Others suffered debilitating accidents from faulty machinery. Many return to their villages where they become incurably ill with no healthcare coverage--left to suffer, decline and struggle to survive.
The film offers an opportunity to meet the workers who are paying the price for cheap electronics. The remarkably authentic film is both touching and brutally honest. So real, that Silicon Valley companies have consistently declined interview requests. White has spent nearly two years researching and filming 100+ hours in China for Who Pays the Price?

  • Environmental Awareness: Plastic Pollution in Australia
Environmental Awareness: Plastic Pollution in Australia with Elizabeth Beaumont
Elizabeth has worked as a Liver Intensive Care Nurse and has returned to her studies, this time in the area of Sustainability at University of Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia. During a merging of two assignments that concerned water extraction for the bottled water industry and the ingestment of plastics by sea mammals and birds she decided to approach the senior management of the university and make formal presentations to phase out and subsequently ban the sale of water housed in Polyethylene terephthalate at the University. She was successful making her uni the 1st in Queensland and only the 2nd in Australia to ban the sale of water in P.E .T. This will result in a massive reduction of carbon emissions. The university has installed 3 ProAcqua machines the greatest innovation of water vends that ever have been invented. In 2014 she travelled to Cambodia with the University and was asked by the Minister of Tourism to advise on plastic pollution there.  Her work to communicate the dangers of this issue has been enhanced by her steady efforts to connect with other interested people including, experts in the broad field of plastic pollution.  She actively picks up plastic pollution and volunteers for the Two Hand Project and applauds anyone who picks up plastics. She has for 30 years actively practiced Nichiren Buddhism. Together with her family, Elizabeth enjoys life on a Land for Wildlife property where marsupials, birds and aquatic life live freely in the Hinterland of South East Queensland.

  • No Storm Lasts Forever: Transforming Suffering Into Insight
No Storm Lasts Forever: Transforming Suffering Into Insight with author Dr. Terry A. Gordon
As a cardiologist, Dr. Terry Gordon dealt with life-and-death circumstances on a daily basis. He learned that life is precious and tenuous; it can change in an instant. Such a dramatic shift occurred when his son, Tyler, was involved in a car accident, sustaining a severe spinal-cord injury that left him paralyzed. Leading his family through the experience, Terry's journey resulted in a spiritual awakening to a clearer understanding of life and the truths it has to offer. Terry has learned that our experiences become calamities only if we make the conscious decision to make tragedies out of them. Rather than lamenting the so-called adversities, we can choose to be grateful for them, embracing them as gifts from the Divine. These gifts provide fertile soil for growth and enlightenment, offering us the opportunity to transform turmoil, disappointment, and suffering into understanding, insight, and resolve . . . and such gifts are presented to you in No Storm Lasts Forever.
One of Terry's missions in life is saving the lives of our most precious resource, our children. After the tragic death of Josh Miller, a 15-year old football player at Barberton High School, Dr. Gordon, as then president of the Summit County Ohio American Heart Association helped to raise the funds to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in every junior and high school. His community became the first county of its size in the nation to do so. For his efforts, the American Heart Association named him the National Physician of the Year 2002

  • Gutless & Grateful - musical - with Amy Oestreicher
Gutless & Grateful - musical - with Amy Oestreicher
Gutless & Grateful in United Solo Theatre Festival, October 11th, 2014
2014 United Solo, the world’s largest solo theatre festival, celebrates its 5th anniversary season and its dynamic expansion in scope and popularity. All shows are staged at Theatre Row: 410 West 42nd Street, New York City.  Tickets, with a price of $19.25 (including a $1.25 theatre restoration charge) are available at the Theatre Row Box Office and online through Telecharge.  You may also call Telecharge at +1-212-239-6200.
Amy Oestreicher is a 27 year old actress, musician, composer, dancer, writer, artist, yogi, foodie, and general lover of life.
At the age of 18, Amy fell into a coma for months, and once she came to, she resolved that she would never become the “patient” or “victim” that her medical circumstances wanted her to be. She simply allowed the unexpected detour to force her to investigate new productions and hobbies – she started a chocolate business, learned to cook and authored a food blog.  She wrote a one-act play, a graphic novel, started her autobiography, and accomplished her biggest dream to date, which was to tell her story in the medium she’s always loved best – the theatre. In 2012, she wrote and starred in “Gutless & Grateful: A Musical Feast” – a one-woman musical about her unique journey.
