NFL Week 3 is here—and Jo Madden says betting the right team isn't enough. You need the right number.
On this episode of Madden On The Line, Jo Madden, Vice President of Sports Gaming Media at CrossCheck Media Inc., breaks down the Week 3 NFL betting board after a week of significant line movement. Some of the numbers Jo targeted earlier in the week have disappeared, others have improved—and several games now look completely different from when the opening lines were posted.
The show starts with Thursday Night Football and Atlanta vs. Green Bay, where the Falcons moved from roughly +7 to +4.5. Jo explains why she loved Atlanta at +7, still liked +5.5, but isn't interested in blindly chasing +4.5. Instead, she lays out a potential live-betting strategy designed to get a better Falcons number if Green Bay scores first.
Then it's into the player-prop market. Jo breaks down Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Jordan Love and Tucker Kraft, including why she sees potential opportunities through the passing game rather than relying heavily on rushing production. She also reveals how she constructs player-prop ladders without putting multiple full units at risk on the same player.
From there, Jo attacks the rest of the Week 3 board. Kansas City has climbed to a double-digit road favorite against Miami, but rather than chase the Chiefs, Jo is watching for an even bigger number on the Dolphins. Jacksonville gets a potential bounce-back opportunity against New England, while Cleveland's move through the key number of three provides a perfect example of why half a point can completely change a wager.
Jo also tackles the Chargers' brutal 0-2 start, whether Los Angeles can stay within the number against Buffalo, and an alternative Bills team-total angle for bettors who don't want to trust the Chargers.
And with Detroit sitting below the key number of seven against the Jets, Jo explains why that may be one number bettors shouldn't wait on.
The overriding lesson for Week 3 is simple:
Don't bet the logo. Don't chase yesterday's number. Bet the number in front of you.
With 16 NFL games available, Jo's other message may be even more important: you don't need 16 bets. Sometimes the best bet is one word—WAIT.

The biggest opportunities in artificial intelligence may no longer be confined to software.
On this episode of The Money Path, host Todd M. Schoenberger sits down with Zenetta Burger, Partner and Head of U.S. Investments at Giant Ventures, for a wide-ranging look at where venture capital is finding the next generation of AI opportunities. Burger says Giant Ventures believes the industry has barely “scratched the surface” of what AI can make possible—from new materials and energy technologies to drug discovery and agriculture.
But what separates a transformative startup from another AI pitch deck? Burger explains that Giant looks for big, bold ideas, highly technical founders and entrepreneurs with what she calls an “irrationally ambitious” drive to build something capable of defining the future. The firm is willing to invest extremely early—even when an entrepreneur has little more than an idea—and can evaluate those investments over a 10-year horizon.
The conversation then moves into one of the AI boom’s biggest physical constraints: energy. Burger calls the race to bring power online the “eye of Sauron” of Giant’s efforts, arguing that the demand for AI compute could fundamentally reshape energy systems. She discusses the importance of speed to power, nuclear technology, small modular reactors, battery storage and the technologies racing to supply data centers with dependable energy.
And then there are the chips. Burger reveals that Giant recently invested in a chip company whose technology she says is 37 times more energy efficient at the low end than other chips on the market. She also highlights Cusp AI and the potential for artificial intelligence to discover entirely new materials that could transform manufacturing and sustainability.
Healthcare could be another enormous frontier. Burger discusses AI-assisted drug development, personalized oncology and technology that can analyze medical records and insurance denials to help patients fight for continued access to medications.
The conversation also tackles China and critical minerals, supply-chain risk, AI regulation, competition between startups and technology giants, and the tension between moving fast and developing AI responsibly. Burger argues that the U.S. needs more critical-mineral capacity while emphasizing that Giant looks for businesses capable of succeeding regardless of political developments.
And perhaps the biggest surprise comes from agriculture: Burger describes a portfolio company using AI-powered robots and lasers to distinguish weeds from crops, reducing dependence on herbicides while potentially improving crop yields.
The message from Giant Ventures: AI may be entering a much bigger phase—one where intelligence moves beyond the screen and begins reshaping the physical economy.

With Treasury yields near 5%, oil around $100 and the Federal Reserve raising rates, investors are trying to determine where the next major market opportunity will emerge. On this episode of Financial Compass, host Todd M. Schoenberger sits down with Mish Schneider, Founder of The Economic Modern Family and Chief Strategist at MarketGauge, to separate the crowded trades from the opportunities Wall Street may be overlooking.
Mish says the picture for precious metals has become increasingly complicated. Gold and silver are no longer responding to the macro environment the way they did during their powerful rallies, with higher bond yields and a stronger dollar now exerting greater pressure. She identifies approximately $4,200 as an important level to watch for gold, while saying silver currently looks somewhat stronger—but still hasn't given her the inflation signal she wants to see.
Her more intriguing idea is natural gas.
While much of Wall Street remains focused on AI stocks, Mish argues natural gas has begun showing technical strength after being overlooked by investors. She specifically highlights pipeline-related names Williams Companies (WMB) and Kinder Morgan (KMI) as stocks she's watching, connecting the opportunity to America's growing infrastructure and energy requirements.
Mish also takes investors inside her Economic Modern Family framework, where transportation and retail are flashing caution while small caps, semiconductors, biotech and regional banks remain above important longer-term technical levels. Her message: the market may be only days away from revealing whether another major rally is developing—or whether a much deeper correction is ahead.
Plus, Mish discusses Bitcoin, IMAX, entertainment stocks, AI, biotech and healthcare, and explains why one of the most important things investors can do right now may simply be to keep some powder dry and wait for the market to show its hand.

America’s battery supply chain has become a national-security, economic and technology story—and the United States is racing to reduce vulnerabilities built up over decades.
On this episode of Power Hour, host Todd M. Schoenberger, CEO of CrossCheck Media Inc., sits down with Steve Christensen, Executive Director of the Responsible Battery Coalition, for a deep dive into Project Vault, critical minerals, China and the future of America’s battery supply chain.
Christensen explains how Project Vault differs from a traditional government stockpile. Manufacturers identify which critical materials they need, while the system works with participating suppliers to secure those materials and provide greater stability during potential disruptions. He also discusses the billion-dollar participation announced by Glencore and Mercuria and why he believes the initiative can help insulate U.S. manufacturers from sudden supply shocks. Power Hour featuring Steve Chri… Power Hour featuring Steve Chri…
But Christensen argues that mining alone isn't enough. America also needs domestic processing and refining capacity. As he explains, raw materials extracted in the United States can still ultimately depend on China if America lacks the capability to transform those materials into usable industrial inputs. Power Hour featuring Steve Chri…
The conversation also examines antimony, lithium, cobalt and graphite, the importance of battery recycling and circular supply chains, and the potential consequences for automobiles, defense, energy infrastructure and AI data centers if geopolitical tensions disrupt access to critical materials. Christensen specifically warns that greater U.S. dependence on battery-intensive data-center infrastructure could create another strategic vulnerability if key portions of the supply chain remain tied to China. Power Hour featuring Steve Chri… Power Hour featuring Steve Chri…
From the battery starting your car to the backup power supporting the AI revolution, this episode explores a question increasingly important to American industry:
Who controls the materials that power the modern economy?

Is the Federal Reserve fighting the wrong battle?
On this episode of The Money Path, host Todd M. Schoenberger sits down with Scott Zelniker, Partner and Executive Managing Director–Wealth Management at Zelniker Dorfman Private Wealth, for a wide-ranging conversation about interest rates, the consumer, government debt, housing, artificial intelligence, semiconductors—and why he believes investors should become more prudent after years of powerful market gains.
Zelniker challenges the conventional inflation narrative. While headline employment numbers may look strong, he says conversations with business owners and clients tell a different story: conditions are getting tighter for companies and consumers. His argument is that today's oil-driven inflation pressure is fundamentally a supply shock, meaning higher interest rates may do little to solve the underlying problem while simultaneously increasing pressure from mortgages, credit cards and other borrowing costs.
The discussion then turns to America's roughly $40 trillion national debt. Zelniker argues that investors may be focusing too heavily on the headline debt number and not enough on something potentially more important: the cost of servicing it. He also explains why he believes lower short-term rates could increase demand for longer-duration Treasury securities and help create a steeper yield curve.
But his most provocative investment thesis may involve technology.
Zelniker says he's “not an AI guy as much as I'm a semiconductor guy.” His argument: investors have narrowed the semiconductor story too much around artificial intelligence. Whatever the next stage of the global economy becomes—AI, automobiles, defense, travel, communications or something investors haven't identified yet—semiconductor chips will remain embedded throughout it.
That doesn't mean chasing everything connected to AI. Zelniker favors profitable businesses with strong balance sheets and expresses concern about companies taking on significant debt without generating profits.
He also explains why his firm has allowed cash to build to roughly 10%–15% across client accounts instead of automatically reinvesting every maturity and dividend—and reveals the market signal he's watching before becoming more aggressive: the VIX. Zelniker says he wants to see genuine fear enter the market and points to a VIX above 30 as a level that gets his attention for putting capital back to work.
Plus: why 7% mortgages haven't crushed housing, how low-rate mortgages have effectively trapped existing homeowners, whether America can avoid stagflation, why data centers aren't going away, and what today's complacent market could mean for investors.
The big question: Is this the time to keep chasing the bull market—or build dry powder for the next real opportunity?

Cannabis is moving deeper into the mainstream American economy—but Wall Street may still misunderstand how this industry actually works.
On this episode of The Money Path, host Todd M. Schoenberger sits down with Greg Chin, Partner at EisnerAmper and Lead of the firm’s Cannabis Industry Team, for a deep dive into the business, investment and transaction landscape surrounding one of America's most unusual emerging industries. Chin brings significant firsthand deal experience to the conversation, saying he has worked on more than 100 cannabis transactions.
Chin estimates the broader cannabis market at roughly $100 billion and explains why investors need to look beyond the industry as a single trade. State-by-state regulation, access to capital, management quality, location, taxation and the divide between regulated and unregulated operators can produce dramatically different economics from one company to another.
The conversation also explores one of the industry's biggest potential catalysts: federal cannabis reform and the tax consequences surrounding Section 280E. Chin explains why changes to federal treatment could materially alter the economics of cannabis businesses—and why uncertainty surrounding adult-use cannabis remains an important issue for operators and investors.
Todd and Greg also examine M&A, public companies, dispensary economics and the next stage of industry consolidation. Chin discusses the acquisition wave that previously swept through cannabis as companies attempted to establish multistate footprints and national brands, while explaining why dealmaking continues even though activity has cooled from its earlier peak.
And what actually makes a cannabis retailer successful? Chin says many are profitable and cites gross margins around 50% at the retail level, while emphasizing capitalization, management, location and product quality. He also identifies gummies and beverages as fast-growing categories alongside traditional flower and pre-roll products.
If cannabis continues its transition from a fragmented, heavily regulated market into a mainstream American consumer industry, where could the biggest opportunities emerge—and what separates the potential winners from everyone else?

Sports isn't just entertainment anymore. It's becoming an asset class.
On this episode of Franchise Value, Shana Orczyk Sissel, CEO & Founder of Banríon Capital Management and author of Tough Minded, joins co-host Todd M. Schoenberger to break down the extraordinary flow of Wall Street money into professional and college sports.
The conversation begins with the New York Yankees and Apollo Sports Capital's $2.6 billion financing agreement, including the growing role of private equity in professional franchises and what institutional investors actually own when they buy into sports. Apollo and Yankee Global Enterprises describe the transaction as a combination of credit and equity, with the Steinbrenner family retaining control.
Then the debate turns to Kalshi and the rapidly evolving prediction-market business. Shana examines whether sports event contracts should be treated as financial instruments or gambling products and what the mounting court battles could mean for the industry. A recent Ninth Circuit decision concluded that two California tribes were likely to succeed in their challenge involving Kalshi sports contracts on tribal lands.
Shana also takes a critical look at the explosion of sports-focused investment products and ETFs, including the potential liquidity and valuation problems created when publicly traded funds hold less-liquid sports-related assets. In the episode, she warns that a mismatch between an ETF's liquidity and that of its underlying investments could become especially problematic during a liquidity crisis.
Finally, Todd and Shana debate the transformation of college athletics—NIL, revenue sharing, athlete compensation, conference power and the widening divide between college sports' financial haves and have-nots. Shana argues that athletes should retain the ability to monetize their personal brands while also calling for guardrails around payments designed primarily to recruit players.
