A legendary figure in American history, Harriet Tubman’s story is well-known and widely celebrated. But her struggle, ultimately unsuccessful, to be compensated by the federal government for her service during the Civil War is less well-known. In 1865, after three years of dedicated service to the United States Army as a nurse, spy, and soldier, she started a long quest to secure the compensation she never received from the government. House records reveal how Tubman, her influential friends, and her Auburn, New York, neighbors persisted by petitioning Congress over three decades.

Tiffany Haddish Gets Dragged For Deleted Tweet Defending Jonathan Majors Amid Abuse Allegations.

Tiffany Haddish is under fire for a recent tweet, which is still garnering backlash even after she deleted it.

The controversial star is under fire, once again, this time for seemingly defending Jonathan Majors amid his ongoing abuse allegations. The comedian tweeted a link to a story about the Jonathan Majors abuse case, which included an article where Majors and his lawyer claim to show that his accuser was unhurt after the alleged abuse. The team included screenshots of the alleged security camera footage that, they say, shows proof that the victim was unharmed.

Shortly after sending out the tweet, Haddish deleted it, but many had already seen it and taken screenshots. Due to her own allegations of abuse, fans were quick to jump on her case, wondering why she thought it would be a good idea to defend someone else when she has her own allegations to worry about.

As the comedian’s tweet went viral, people brought up several past controversies surrounding Haddish, one such drama involved Law Roach. The celebrity stylist told Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked that he stopped working with the actress as he had “ruined a lot of relationships trying to elevate Tiffany.”

  • Rick Ross has offered Don Lemon a job at Wingstop after he was fired from CNN!
Rick Ross has reached out to Don Lemon to offer him a job at Wingstop after the 57-year-old news anchor was fired from CNN.Lemon was let go by CNN on Monday, with the network saying the two had "parted ways."The host, who had worked for CNN for 17 years, wrote on Twitter that he was "stunned" and that he found out he had been terminated through his agent.Tagging Lemon in an Instagram story on Tuesday, Ross said that there were positions open at his Wingstop locations.

"Just found out Don Lemon was terminated from CNN. Damn, dawg," the rapper, who reportedly owns over two dozen Wingstop restaurants across the United States, said. "But guess what? The brother's got your back.""We hiring at Wingstop," he added. "And for some reason, I believe you know what you doing with the lemon pepper wings, so man, just send over your résumé. I'mma make sure I get you in front of the right grill, brother. Stay solid, brother."In a second video, Ross pitched Lemon another business proposition involving his energy-drink company, Rapstar."Just came up with a wonderful idea — well, really, Don, you helped me come up with this," he said. "I need to hit the team over at Rapstar Energy Drink and let 'em know we should introduce the Don Lemon flavor. What y'all think? Aye, Don, we got you brother!"

Lemon's dismissal from CNN comes after a bombshell report from Variety earlier this month that accused Lemon of having a history of misogynistic behavior toward female coworkers.Lemon denied Variety's claims in a statement, saying: "The story, which is riddled with patently false anecdotes and no concrete evidence, is entirely based on unsourced, unsubstantiated, 15-year-old anonymous gossip. It's amazing and disappointing that Variety would be so reckless."CNN did not provide a reason for Lemon's termination on Monday."CNN and Don have parted ways," the network said. "Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors."

  • CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD SEEKS TO HAVE SEXUAL ASSAULT LAWSUIT THROWN OUT
Charlamagne Tha God is reportedly looking to have a lawsuit stemming from his 2001 sexual assault case thrown out on the grounds there is a lack of evidence.According to a report from Radar Online on Thursday (April 20), the radio personality filed new documents stating that the DNA rape kit from the alleged 2001 incident didn’t match his DNA, thus proving his maintained innocence.

“[Alleged victim Jessica Reid] has persisted in broadly disseminating her unsubstantiated claims, ignoring that the South Carolina Solicitor in 2018 declined her request to re-open the case due to a lack of evidence while confirming that no basis existed to bring sexual assault charges against Charlamagne,” the filing reads. “Witnesses had attested to the fact that Charlamagne had already left the party when the alleged assault occurred.”His attorney Michael Weinsten also released a statement.

“We are confident that Ms. Reid’s meritless civil lawsuit in which she represents herself will be promptly dismissed,” he said. “This is the same sexual assault claim that was fully investigated and dismissed by authorities in South Carolina more than 21 years ago.“At that time, my client voluntarily submitted his DNA, and it was confirmed his DNA was not found in her rape kit. It is also the same matter that Ms. Reid tried to re-open in 2018 that the South Carolina Solicitor General declined to re-open, suggesting among other things it was ‘not ethical’ to do so.

”Reid filed a federal lawsuit against the radio host in a New York court just a few months ago in 2022, accusing him of “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engage in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen-year-old female child” while he was 22 years old at the time.Reid didn’t cooperate with the police’s investigation after they found her allegedly “crying uncontrollably” after she attended Charlamagne’s birthday party at Short Stay Naval Recreational Center in Charleston, South Carolina in June 2001.

In addition to his DNA not being found after a rape kit was conducted, materials tested from underneath Reid’s fingernails were also analyzed and determined to contain “nothing of apparent serological evidentiary value. At the time of the initial investigation, Charlamagne Tha God pleaded guilty to a lower charge of “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” after providing her with alcohol. The shock jock served three years of probation but the sexual assault charge was dismissed.

  • 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS AND KILLS 4-YEAR-OLD SISTER IN HOUSTON
3-YEAR-OLD GIRL ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS AND KILLS 4-YEAR-OLD SISTER IN HOUSTON.

Prosecutors will determine whether any adults will face charges after an unsupervised 3-year-old accidentally shot and killed her 4-year-old sister at their home in Houston, authorities said.Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez called the Sunday shooting a “very preventable” situation.“It seems like another tragic story of a child getting access to a firearm and hurting someone else,” Gonzalez said at a news conference. Police say the investigation is in the preliminary phase."Everyone's impacted, a community's impacted when a child loses their life in this way," Gonzalez said.

A 3-year-old girl in Houston gained access to a firearm and "unintentionally" shot and killed her 4-year-old sister late Sunday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.Gonzalez said the preliminary investigation showed that the two children had been inside an apartment with five family members and friends and each of the two children's parents believed the other was watching the kids. Instead, they were left unsupervised and picked up an "unsecured" and loaded semi-automatic pistol. The family members heard one gunshot and ran into the room to find one child had apparently accidentally shot the other toddler, Gonzalez said at a press conference. The injured child was unresponsive, he said, and the parents immediately called 911.

"The toddler was pronounced deceased at the scene," he said on Twitter.Officials said it will be up to the district attorney to decide whether charges will be pressed against any of the adults."You've got to make sure you're a responsible gun owner," Gonzalez said. "Secure your weapons in a safe place. It's got to be more than just to tell the kids not to touch the weapons." (ABC NEWS)

  • Johnson & Johnson offers nearly $9 billion to settle talc lawsuits.
Johnson & Johnson offers nearly $9 billion to settle talc lawsuits.

Johnson & Johnson said Tuesday that it will offer at least $8.9 billion to resolve thousands of lawsuits filed by people alleging that the company's products containing talc caused cancer, quadrupling a previous offer to settle the suits. The health and consumer goods company laid out the proposal in a news release. The suggested settlement, which is payable over 25 years, is $6.9 billion more than its previous offer in connection with a 2021 bankruptcy filing by its LTL Management unit.

Women have filed a barrage of suits in recent years alleging that J&J's baby powder gave them ovarian cancer or mesothelioma, a cancer that strikes the lungs and other organs.More than 60,000 parties who have sued J&J are backing the proposed settlement."The newly announced settlement marks a significant victory for the tens of thousands of women suffering from gynecological cancers caused by J&J's talc-based products," a group of plaintiffs' law firms said in a statement. "Under the terms of the agreement, all talc claimants will be able to have their claims evaluated and assessed within one year of plan confirmation, ensuring a swift and efficient resolution for victims of the company's misconduct."

J&J continues to deny that its talcum powder poses health risks, saying that the settlement offer does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing."The company continues to believe that these claims are specious and lack scientific merit," Erik Haas, worldwide vice president of litigation at Johnson & Johnson, said in a statement. "However, as the bankruptcy court recognized, resolving these cases in the tort system would take decades and impose significant costs on LTL and the system, with most claimants never receiving any compensation."

The proposed settlement must now be approved by bankruptcy judge.Attorney Brian Glasser of Bailey Glasser, who represented the committee of talc claimants, also urged the court to dismiss the LTL Management bankruptcy.

"The last time J&J tried this they told the world that $2 billion was more than enough to satisfy these claims," he said in an email. "The $9 billion they have offered today makes plain that the prior number was ridiculous, the prior bankruptcy filing was a scam and the entire exercise was a misuse of the bankruptcy system. The court of appeals agreed, and dismissed their case. An hour or so later they found $7 billion in the company in seat cushions."Lawsuits against J&J have contributed to declining sales for its talcum-based baby powder, and the company last year said it would stop selling the product worldwide.J&J's stock rose 3% in after-hours trading Tuesday after the company's announcement. • Jonathan Majors’ Lawyer Says There’s Evidence Proving Actor Is “Entirely Innocent”
Jonathan Majors’ Lawyer Says There’s Evidence Proving Actor Is “Entirely Innocent” & Expects Charges To Be “Dropped Imminently” Of Alleged Assault.

Jonathan Majors’ criminal defense lawyer is speaking out and claiming the Creed III actor is innocent and has evidence proving his innocence.“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” Priya Chaudhry told Deadline in a statement. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”

Chaudhry said that the “evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations.”

“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” the lawyer added. “Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.

The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”Majors, also the star of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was arrested on Saturday, March 25 in New York City on charges that included assault, strangulation and harassment.

“A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female,” read a statement from the Deputy Commissioner Public Information. “The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.”
