A conversation with Frank Garza, father to Hawkeye Luka Garza. Frank was a basketball standout at the University of Idaho where he began assembling the support system that would help develop his son into the Player of the Year. As I've learned he's prone to say,"family is everything." Frank's father, James Harm, was the Vandal's assistant coach to Bill Trumbo, Luka's Godfather. Their basketball network led to a Yugoslavian connection and an introduction to Luka's mom, Sejla. They make up the other part of Luka's basketball family. An insightful conversation with a father who nourished his son's passion for the game and describes the journey its taken to developing him into the player he is. Twitter @FrankGarza57

Prior to an Iowa/UNC game, I find an excuse to catch up with 3x NBA Champ and 15 year vet Scott Williams. A discussion about this Iowa team, from Luka Garza to Fran McCaffery. Get some insight shaped by his history learning from the best- Dean Smith and winning titles with the Bulls/Michael Jordan. One of a handful players to play with Jordan, Iverson and Lebron, he brings an enlightened perspective to the game and sports. The bonus is some friendly banter predicting the outcome of the North Carolina game both before and after. Best of all, you'll meet a really good person.
Another OT short version. This time Derrell Johnson-Koulianos shares some thoughts/insights and love for his team. He doesn't need an introduction to Hawkeye fans, but it doesn't hurt to remind folks. He was a standout wide receiver at the University of Iowa, where he was a four-year starter. He left the Hawkeyes' program as the school's all-time leader in receptions (173) and receiving yards (2,616) while ranking third all-time in touchdown receptions (17) and fifth in all-purpose yards (4,231). He is still the Big 10's all-time leader - dating back to 1976 - in career yards per kickoff return (26.3). He's currently the wide receiver coach at Bloomsburg University.

Introducing B/YG OT with my friend Gregory Galloway. A shorter podcast, OT provides insight and reaction to previous episodes, but it also gives us an opportunity to share "Other Thoughts" and go "On a Tangent"- see what I did there?. It's the best us two geniuses could come up with for a name. While dated by a few weeks, It's still relevant. We discuss saveiowasports.com (Iowa Swimming and Diving, Mens Gymnastic and Tennis), Sports budgets, Mark Kaufman's episode, Covid 19, GNR and Keokuk, Iowa's sex ed class back in the day. Hawkeye sports lead you to some roads less travelled. Go Hawks!

A chat with Mark Kaufman- who's many things, but all of it Hawkeye. This humble Iowan has a great story: Former Iowa athletic trainer - including the '85-'86 Rose Bowl team - Founder & Chairmen of Athletico, philanthropist, husband and parent of 3 young ladies of which one is currently on the recently cut Iowa swim team. He's kind enough to share his story and make a compelling case for saving non revenue college/olympic sports.

A chat with Hawkeye wrestling legend Barry Davis- perhaps the best college wrestler Iowa has ever had. We discuss his time at the University including the time he "broke" while cutting weight, just before his first NCAA Title, and being coached by Dan Gable.
