Hello and welcome to the Black Girl Be Brave inaugural podcast! I want to extend a warm welcome and express my gratitude for you joining this movement. This initiative is incredibly important, and I feel more compelled than ever to ensure that this message reaches around the world. I am delighted that you have found us, and I truly believe that you are here for a reason.
You might be wondering, where did the concept of Black Girl Be Brave come from? Let me share a little story with you.
Let’s go back to 2010, 14 years ago. There was a television event called Black Girls Rock. This event celebrated the achievements and contributions of Black women across various fields, and it featured the legendary Ruby Dee. She said, "Birth was the beginning of a trajectory and I’m still on it. I know enough to know that I'm not where I'm going to be and I'm always becoming." Her words about resilience and bravery deeply resonated with me. It was a powerful reminder of our strength, resilience, and brilliance. Inspired by this event and Ruby Dee’s profound message, I felt a deep calling to create a space where we could continuously uplift and support each other.
Thus, the idea of Black Girls Be Brave was born. This movement is not just about bravery—it's about the journey of becoming. Birth is the starting point of a trajectory, a path filled with endless possibilities. We don’t know who we will become, but we must have the courage to continue pursuing our purpose.
We are all in a constant state of becoming, evolving into the best versions of ourselves. This podcast and the larger movement are dedicated to encouraging Black Girls of all ages, in all spaces and all stations in life to embrace their courage, to be bold, and to stand tall in the face of adversity and to be courageous when we are called to confront new journies. We are here to remind each other that bravery is in our DNA, and together, we can achieve great things.
I believe that you are here for a reason. Whether you stumbled upon this podcast by chance or intentionally sought it out, you are now part of this movement. Your presence signifies a shared commitment to fostering bravery and embracing the journey of becoming within ourselves and our community.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Together, we will inspire, uplift, and empower one another. Welcome to Black Girl Be Brave, where our journey starts here and continues to unfold with every brave step we take.
