America is turning 250. But for Black women, the story of America has always been more complicated than a celebration.

In this episode, we are joined by Anneshia Hardy, Executive Director of Alabama Values and Alabama Values Progress; Jamie J. Johnson, former Missouri State Representative and Statewide Coalition Director for People Not Politicians; Attallah Pamoja, Afro-Latina speaker, educator, and grassroots organizer; and Zoë Rose, Content Producer for Black Girls Do Politics.

Together, these Black women from different generations and political backgrounds reflect on what 250 years of America means to them and unpack political power, progress, representation, and the issues shaping their communities.

From the progress Black women have fought generations to achieve to the challenges that remain, this conversation makes room for different perspectives on where we’ve been, where we are, and what Black women want to see from the country moving forward.

250 years later, there is still unfinished business. And Black women have something to say about it.

The Climate change is not a future problem — it is happening right now, in Black neighborhoods, Black bodies, and Black zip codes across this country. Black people are living on the front lines of a crisis we did not create, and the people making the policies that could save us keep leaving us out of the room.

In this episode, we're joined by Elijah Perry, a 30-year veteran of environmental justice and clean energy advocacy, and Cyndee Harris, an environmental policy strategist fighting for water and energy equity in underserved Southern communities. We break down what environmental racism actually looks like on the ground, why Black political engagement on climate is not optional, and how we can engage to fight back. We also honor the legacy of the Mother of Environmental Justice — who changed federal policy forever with nothing but a clipboard and a refusal to be ignored.
