A few weeks ago I was scrolling on Twitter and saw something that struck a nerve - the existence of White privilege in this country is undeniable, and truthfully creates two different "Americas," one for White women, and one for Black women. In their America, being vocal about their oppression earns them positive labels and recognition of their courage, bravery, and strength. In our America, being vocal about our layered oppression, which they contribute to, earns us labels filled with negativity, including bitter, ugly, and my least favorite, angry.
Why does our society demonize vocal Black women?
In this episode, I chat about Serena Williams, Red Table Talk, and one of the many stereotypes America has assigned to Black women.
