Ukraine has inaugurated an embassy in Ivory Coast, a day after opening a similar one in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of Kyiv's efforts to expand its presence on the continent.

“A brilliant new chapter has been added to the history of Ukrainian-African and Ukrainian-Ivorian relations,” French public broadcaster RFI quoted Ukraine’s special envoy for Africa and the Middle East, Maksym Subkh, as saying during the event in Ivory Coast's capital, Abidjan on Thursday.

Members of Nigeria's junior football team have been denied visas to attend a tournament in Spain, the country's football federation says.The visa denials affected both players and officials of the under-15 football team, the Future Eagles, it said.The team would "therefore not be travelling to take part in the Uefa U16 Development Tournament", the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) tweeted.

On 5 April, Haitian police forces reportedly uncovered an illegal shipment of weapons from the United States. According to the website, Haiti Libre, the container included 12 assault rifles, 14 9-mm pistol guns, 999 cartridges for various calibre sizes, and 34 chargers (sniper rifles). Haitian officials seized the weapons at the port of Cap-Haïtien. Haiti Libre reported Alliance Int’l Shipping LLC Agency of 6916 NW, 72nd Avenue in Miami, shipped the container to someone named ‘Wilmane Jean,’ described as a ‘customs broker.’
