Two black women took two different routes to arrive at Sam Houston University, discussing why the black community narratives are significant factors for our representation collegiately.
Today we decided to talk about our experiences more in-depth within the pandemic. Seeing parallels in undergrad versus grad school, and the diversity within the program. Advice or upcoming students wanting to join grad school, and what to look out for.
Today we have Khayman who is the president of the Talented Tenth at SHSU. We talk about what it’s like being a black man/student on campus within the pandemic. How The organization has translated on campus.
Today we have Dr. Pruitt who is Associate Professor of History here at SHSU. We discussed what it’s like for the first black woman to achieve anything and its importance. Her background in education, which led her to SHSU, and why she fell in love with Teaching.
Today we have an Academic Support Coach by the name of Leo Queen at SHSU. We talk about what it’s like to be a faculty member on campus and whether there’s diversity. While what's it’s like being a Black man within the corporate world in midst of the pandemic.
Today we talked to a Digital Media Arts Major in Masters Program at SHSU. We discussed Whats it’s like to work in LoneStar while being a student, in the midst of the pandemic. As well as Career Goals throughout her personal challenges in Grad School.
Today we have Dr. O’neal who is a Visiting Assistant Professor at SHSU for over 8 years. We talked about the beginning of his college career at Howard, working in the communications system as well as the education system. While challenging his students as well as his Leadership roles to be within our community.
Today we had the pleasure of speaking to 19-year guest Kennedy Singleton who is over the organization Black Women Empowered. We talked about her story and how it all began, within the pandemic, starting her organization, and what it’s like to be black on campus.
