In this month’s episode of WaxWorks Nyboe has had a talk with the Danish DJ, producer and record collector and man behind Persian Grooves - Ali Kabali.
Ali Kabali started out as a breaker and later turned to DJ’ing after injuries. A few years ago he started the Instagram page Persian Grooves, where he presents, often rare or unknown to most, mainly Iranian music on vinyl. Since it has also turned into several collabs, a producer album and even the worlds tiniest record shop.
Tune in for a talk about having to look towards other cities to learn about and practice breaking, how being the person who always controls the music turns into being a DJ, about doing reworks for break battles, about finding and collecting Persian vinyl records, about spreading and preserving a music culture, which is not so common in Denmark and much more in this month’s episode.
