The worship priorities we choose as older role models have generational ripple effects. Will we pass on a legacy of giving God the glory He is due or a legacy of pursuing the priorities of the world?

We must make a choice to follow Jesus in all areas of life. If we are not following Jesus, then whom are we following? So many people, places, and things fight for our attention, but Jesus is the only one worthy of it. When Jesus has our undivided attention He uses it to change the world!

As a church, we see it as our mission to serve our community. Jesus taught us to love and serve those in our community through the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10. Let us follow Jesus' final words in this parable and "Go and do likewise."

And when confronted with his sin, instead of humbling himself and owning his wrongdoing, Uzziah chose to power up rather than repent…and lost everything. God can forgive anything…except sin for which we have failed to repent.

Have you ever felt like you don't know enough for God to use you? Or maybe you think you're not skilled enough. We learn in Timothy's story that God doesn't call perfect people to follow Him, instead He chooses to use broken people who are hungry to grow to make the biggest impact.

Human efforts to bring about God's purposes seldom succeed. This message shows how humility and surrender are the keys to being used by God. Real change comes when we stop trying to make things happen in our own strength.

This sermon will help people understand that we all have something God can use to make a difference in the lives of others. Jesus uses ordinary people like you and me, but to really influence others, we must give our talents, time, and treasure to the Lord.
