Black Rock Church Sermons

Welcome to the Black Rock Podcast, where faith meets real life. We're glad you're joining us today.

Over the last few episodes, we've been walking through Black Rock Church's Ministry Values—the convictions that shape who we are, how we follow Jesus, and the culture we're striving to create as a church. We've talked about Joyful Discipleship and being Outward Focused, and today we're looking at another foundational value: "God's Word is the Final Word."

What does it really mean to say that Scripture is our final authority? How do we trust God's Word when it challenges our opinions, emotions, or the culture around us? And how do we hold firmly to biblical truth without becoming arrogant, legalistic, or unloving?

As always, our goal isn't just to have an interesting conversation. It's to help us all grow in our understanding of God, His Word, and how the Bible continues to shape everyday life. So let's jump in.

Ever feel like you've hit an invisible wall in your relationship with God? Peter learned from Jesus that the problem is on our end, but God is on our side. Join us as we discover the path to breakthrough found in Peter's Pyramid.

Baptism is more than a moment — it's a declaration of a new life in Christ. Join us as we celebrate stories of transformation and look at how Jesus calls us to believe in Him, leave behind the old life, and grow into the fullness of who He created us to be.

What happens when Christ is at the center of every moment of every day? In Colossians 4, Paul challenges us to live with purpose, speak with grace, and look for opportunities to point others toward Jesus. Discover how God uses ordinary people and everyday conversations to make an extraordinary difference in their community and the world.

A life centered on Jesus transforms how you live with others. Whether it's marriage, parenting, family drama, or frustrating people at work, Colossians 3 gives a surprisingly practical and refreshing vision for relationships marked by love, sacrifice, grace, and purpose instead of conflict, selfishness, and scorekeeping.

Welcome to the Black Rock Podcast, where faith meets real life.

Today we're talking about one of our core ministry values: being outward focused. At Black Rock, we believe church is for everyone. That's why we strive to communicate the truth of God's Word in a way that's relatable, understandable, and engaging—especially for people who may be new to faith. As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians, everything we do should build people up. We want church to be spiritual, rooted in Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit; helpful, making a difference in everyday life; and enjoyable, creating an environment where people genuinely want to be. So grab a snack and join us as we explore what it means to be outward focused. Let's chat and chew!

When you set your mind on Christ you actively put to death sin in your life and put on Godly character of compassion, kindness, and love.

When we are "rooted in Christ" it enables us to live freely for him. We often try to put additional rules, regulations and barriers in our faith, but truly a relationship with Christ is enough!

Your faith was never meant to be private—it was meant to be shared. Discover the mission at the heart of following Jesus and how your life can make an eternal impact when Christ is boldly proclaimed.

We often shrink Jesus into something manageable, but this week we'll see Him for who He truly is: the image of God, Creator of the universe, ruler over all, and the one who holds everything together. This all-powerful, all-sufficient Jesus didn't stay distant. He came to reconcile you, restore you, and bring you near through the cross.
