The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Sarah Jo Peterson, PhD, Dr. Tierra Billls, and Dr. Amanda Phillips de Lucas. An independent transportation consultant and author, Peterson explores the history of and development of the U.S. highway system. Peterson wrote the books The Transportation Research Board and Planning the Home Front. We'll discuss her more recent project which is a series of reports which examine the deliberate way Whites have used U.S. highways to obliterate areas where black people are allowed to live, work, and attempt to operate businesses. Dr. Bliss and Dr. de Lucas also wrote on this topic, addressing road construction and Racism in Minnesota and Maryland respectively. Dr. Bliss describes how this trauma is personal to her family, where members were displaced with the construction of highways in Michigan. Similar to when White Terrorist violence or weaponized property taxes were used to loot property from black people, U.S. highways were also strategically implemented to dispossess black people.

They're have been massive reverberations from the Centers for Disease Control announced that fully vaccinated people don't need to mask or social distance. We'll see how this has impacted other regions of the planet, and if everyone is all set to get back to normal for the summer.

With all customary confusion of the past 14 months, the Centers for Disease Control announced that individuals who are fully vaccinated do not have to wear masks indoors or outside. Rekindling a number of contested points, many ask how to distinguish between those who've been vaccinated. Regardless, many regions are reducing or totally ditching mask requirements and preparing for a return to "normal" this summer. On the East coast of the U.S., "panic-buying" of gasoline has caused shortages, price hikes and confrontations at filling stations. And reports indicate the week Kobe Bryant is inducted into the basketball hall of fame, Los Angeles firefighters were fired or disciplined for collecting macabre photos from the helicopter crash site where the NBA star, his daughter, and 7 others died last year.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. The "gay Rosa Parks" Ellen DeGeneres announced the end of her television eponymously named television series. The actor was accused of practicing Racism by members of the show's staff. President Joe Biden prompted citizens not to turn down opportunities to return to the workforce to continue pocketing unemployment benefits. Numerous companies report having staff shortages which are allegedly responsible for a variety of shortages across the world. Amidst the chaos and confusion, Covid-19 continues to be a problem. Vaccine documentation and workplace safety remain contentious and unending topics of debate.

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 11th study session on Jack Olsen's Last Man Standing: The Tragedy and Triumph of Geronimo Pratt. Olsen is a White man, and a prolific author. He wrote for Sport Illustrated during the turbulent 1960's, and penned a celebrated series examining black athletes and Racism. The magazine also credits Olsen with writing one of the best biographies on boxing icon and attempted counter-racist Muhammad Ali. Last week, Olsen detailed the CBS "60 Minutes" interview of Pratt. The piece aired in 1987, and seemed like it was probably edited by FBI enforcement officials. Pratt's White female prison counselor (L. Atkinson), continued to advocate for Pratt against her fellow co-workers wishes. Flexing her White might, Atkinson sued the Department of Corrections for $100,000 for workplace abuse, ditched the penitentiary and became pen-pals with Nelson Mandela. Before exiting, she severely admonished Pratt for not holding a grudge against Huey P. Newton. The White woman called Netwon a "dickhead" and chided Pratt to recognize his "enemies." Newton was shot and killed shortly after being released from prison. Before his murder, Newton reconciled with Pratt and vowed to help free his former comrade.

Comments made by Jay Z about his track "Big Pimpin" resurfaced from an interview he gave 11 years ago about the lyrics.

Singer Mirah Carey made the news by reportedly jokingly threatening to sick lawyers on an artist who sampled one of her songs "Shake It Off" and rapped about killing people.

A high school baseball coach was recently fired for telling a Black baseball player to turn off that "nword" music. Apparently, the player, the only Black student on the team was blasting rap music over a loudspeaker that repeatedly referred to people as n-words and the coach was not happy with it.

Details have emerged concerning the home invasion and murder of murder music artist Pop Smoke. Apparently, Mr. Smoke was robbed by teens and one twenty years old and reportedly, he was shot by a 15 yr old while trying to flee his robbers. However, comments made by the mother of the rapper are kind of puzzling and she seems to be blinded by grief and cognitive dissonance.
