In the season finale of "Black Women Watch", Tish explores the first Sci-Fi/Horror with an ALL BLACK CAST.
"The Son Of Ingagi", a little-known film that came out in 1940 was more symbolic than it was intended to be, but the fact that it exists gives Tish an opportunity to think more existentially and why representation in something as fantastical as Sci-Fi matters.
And since it's the final episode, thanks for everyone that has listened to this first season. Season 2 is already in the works and will hopefully come later in the year. Hit up the socials below for updates and share this 1st season if you haven't already.

The Beauty Of Independence
In this episode of BWW, Tish goes back to the early 80s for a film that was initially panned by critics, one of which asking "Is this the most hated movie of all time?".
But in the decades after, "The Thing", directed by John Carpenter; written by Bill Lancaster; starring Kurt Russell, R.J. MacReady, Keith David & Wilford Brimley (Based on the novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr.) has shaken off the negative reviews it initially gained and has become somewhat an essential watch for any Sci-Fi fan.

The Beauty Of Independence
For this episode of BWW, Tish dips into one of the most iconic films of all time. "The Matrix", (1999) written & directed by The Wachowski's, starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Ann Moss & Hugo Weaving. The film was a melting pot of different inspirations, from Chinese fight choreography to classic Japanese Anime, to Babylonian history. And as the film ages, the amount of inspirations it has given to the culture at large is just as substantial, if not more. It's an existential trip with quotable lines and iconic shots. And Tish gets into it all.

For Episode 2 of "Black Women Watch...", Tish heads over across the pond to look at a contemporary classic that laid the foundation for the career of John Boyega, subverted the traditional "urban" film that UK film was exploring at the time, and has aged as a cult favourite that has endless replay value.
