For reference, the complete definition of a PhD is as follows. A PhD is a postgraduate doctoral degree, awarded to students who complete an original thesis offering a significant new contribution to knowledge in their subject. PhD qualifications are available in all subjects and are normally the highest level of academic degree a person can achieve (Find A PhD, 2018).

The Who, When, Where, and Why of BlackGrounds. 

We want to highlight the definition of some terms used in this episode. HBCU is a an acronym for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These institutions of higher learning were created with the intention of serving primarily Black students in the United States. PWI is an acronym for predominately White institutions, where majority of the student body is composed of White students.
