The visionary and creator of the brand, Jazmin has an impressive background in fashion marketing, specializing in high-profile and luxury brands. ARCH was brought to fruition in 2018 in her Harlem apartment from a desire to make space for herself in the industry, on her own terms. She has created a brand motivated by black women who take up space and design with quality, style, and budget in mind. This week I spoke with Allena Grant of @moodseyewear_ While fashion brands that cater to black women have increased tremendously over the years, eyewear is one of the markets where we still lack representation. That’s due in part to the lack of ownership in the eyewear market. According to Statistica, The global eyewear market which is made up of spectacles, contact lenses, sunglasses, and other eyewear products, was valued at around 140 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, and was forecast to reach197 billion U.S. dollars by 2027. Even with these large numbers, there are only a handful of black eyewear designers. Moods was founded in 2019 by company CEO Allena Grant. Her love for funky eyewear turned into her passion of wanting every woman to feel as good as she does when she wears a pair of frames. At Moods Eyewear they offer eyewear frames that capture your every mood. Whether you are feeling classy or funky, there is a frame for you. Their handmade Italian eyewear is made up of an eco-sustainable cellulose acetate which means it’s eco friendly fashion.

This week I interviewed Tiffany of @rgnsport As a black woman and former soccer player with thick thighs Tiffany loved working out but hated having to constantly pull down and unroll her shorts mid-workout. That's what spurred the idea for a new type of short: one that was made to stay put and had pockets. Her & her Fiancé were determined to solve apparel problems we've all faced. They don't want to just make your workouts easier, they want you to feel more confident, whether you're running errands or walking the dog, in apparel you know was made to suit you.
