I had an excellent conversation with journalist Dina Kraft, Montgomery Blair HS class of 1989. Dina is an award winning journalist based in Israel. We discuss the circumstances surrounding the murder of our dear friend and classmate Allan Hill, and her journey to gain a sense of understanding of the killing via Restorative Justice. We also discuss Dina's experiences as an award-winning journalist. Please check out her excellent podcast 'The Branch' via Apple Podcasts: apple.co/3j6BqeN.
Below is the last letter that Dina received from our beloved friend and classmate Allan Hill:
"I can make myself feel so good. I know what I'm practicing for, to satisfy my ear and I don't think in the past I've accepted the potential of what I want and what I can accomplish. I am curious. When you are watching a scene from a movie or a play or listening to a performance (and) you get goosebumps, what did the performer feel? That's different from what the receiver hears, I think. The way I feel when I satisfy my ears is like goosebumps, inside out, a certain kind of warmth. Maybe the next time you get goosebumps you will ask the person who gave them to you, ‘How did you feel?’ You know me, Dina. I'm no rocket scientist. But for the rest of my life, I know what to do."
Judge Michèle Patrão Forsythe talks about the Blair experience, life as an attorney, and current projects as a Judge on the South Carolina bench.
