Measure Divide is the new project of music producer Fahad Ahmad who is better known to us as one half of techno powerhouse duo Subfractal. After working for more than five years pushing the envelope of Techno under the Subfractal moniker, he decided to start a new platform for his own expression.
His commitment to finding new and innovative techniques to produce groundbreaking techno led him to start this project. After hearing the first few productions it comes without a doubt that Measure Divide is his channel to satisfy his thirst for earth shattering deeper, harder and darker techno. The distorted sound design, rumbling low-end and big fluxes of synths are essential to his sound and are showcased in his productions.

Augustus Williams, aka Gusto is best defined by his pure Detroit sound, while incorporating funky house brought on by the memories of his childhood. At an early age Gusto discovered a love for the Motown sound, but the music that captured him first was Hip Hop and the genuine style and funk infusions. Through a new breed of Detroit promotions, the popular Detroit promoters ‘Nightsneak‘ would later become Gusto’s outlet to the Detroit scene soon becoming a local favorite.
Gusto began to direct his energy through drum machines and sequencers, often combining those efforts for a no less than impressive show. Playing mostly live shows for the better part of the last 11 years, people often forget he started out as a DJ. In the studio his tracks are made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind, and with this production thought he has developed the sound that defines him as a truly unique artist. The rest is not history, but the future for this talented die hard as he continues to this day to kill dance floors with intense bass and funky hooks on that legendary Detroit sound he is known for. Keep up with Gusto on Soundcloud and Beatport!

The next podcast was recorded live at our recent Blank Code series event, Mike Gervais at Scene 17 on December 14th, 2014. Mike Gervais hails from the old guard of Minneapolis. While the rest of the techno world may be more familiar with other artists from Minneapolis, in the city itself Centrific is considered one of the godfathers. He has been DJing in Minneapolis and around the Midwest for nearly two decades, and has been throwing some of Minneapolis’ best events with various collaborators under the name Intellephunk for over 15 years. He is just as likely to be seen up front dancing in front of the speakers as he is behind the decks himself.
As a DJ, Centrific can be called upon in many situations, whether it be darker warehouse techno at one of his Intellephunk showcases, or deep funky tech house at his open air Communion Sundays events. As a producer, Centrific has released his music on Drop Bass, Aphrodisio, Communique Records, Dustin Zahn’s label Enemy Records, and most recently his original mix “U Pod” on EDEC.
