The docufiction film follows Cass Cumerford a man in his later years , who finds his way back to the region of Bundaberg, the place he grew up in. The film follows Cass and the thoughts that spring from being a man in his later years, working through grief and mortality. The film showcases the vunerability of what it is to be human and where the people of Bundaberg go in order to find comradery, community and peace. Dev makes music under the name Death of Labour, releasing his debut album this year, 'Wurundjeri Spur Is Burning'.I was first introduced to Dev through Wilhelm Philipp, a Melbourne-based photographer. Wilhelm published a story on Dev, 'A near miss with the abyss,' which gave Dev the first real chance to talk in detail about a skating accident that occured in 2021. Dev was out one night with some friends skating when his head hit the pavement. Dev’s fall resulted in him fracturing his skull, with the scans revealing he had a brain bleed on the right-hand side of his head and residual damage to the front of his brain as well as subdural bleeding. Dev was in a coma for 13 days and went through an extensive rehab process over a 3-year period. In this episode, Dev speaks on his early childhood, mortality, rehab, recovery, mental health, musical influences, and more. Much love to Dev for sharing his journey.
