In this episode, I’m joined by Brittany Haney, who spent nearly 15 years living and working across Asia, including China, Cambodia, and Indonesia. After years of building a life abroad, Brittany found herself in Europe pursuing IVF as part of her journey toward solo parenthood.

Brittany opens up about the medical setbacks she has experienced, what it’s like to navigate fertility treatment abroad, and why she ultimately chose to pursue IVF in Europe rather than the United States.

We talk about learning Mandarin, adapting to new cultures, becoming a global citizen, and how living across different countries has shaped her perspective on identity, fertility, and what it means to create a life on your own terms.

We also talk about something that can be surprisingly difficult for women who are accustomed to making things happen: the pause. What happens when you can't control the timeline? When the next chapter isn't yours to force? And what might become possible when you give yourself permission to slow down?

When Genise Fulton became a mom at 19, she assumed some of the life she imagined for herself would have to be put on hold. Years later, she’s proving that “later” doesn’t mean “never.”

Now retired and living in Thailand, Genise is embracing a chapter centered around travel, wellness, fun, and—most importantly—herself. From Mexico, where she obtained permanent residency, to Vietnam, Costa Rica, and now Thailand, she’s created a life that looks very different from the one she once thought was possible.

In this conversation, we talk about early motherhood, retirement, travel, reinventing yourself, and what happens when you finally give yourself permission to live the life you once thought you missed out on.

And there’s a little plot twist: Genise and I first met in Bangkok in 2025, only to discover that we had once lived just ten minutes apart in New Jersey. Because apparently, we had to travel halfway around the world to meet. 😂

Jeff Walker spent decades traveling the world, serving in the U.S. Navy, and building a successful career in IT. But it wasn't until he visited Kenya that everything changed.

There comes a point when staying costs more than leaving.

For Ulonda Harris, the journey to belonging began with burnout. After years of feeling exhausted by the pace and rising cost of life in Texas, she never imagined that living abroad would be part of her story—even though her daughter had already built a life in Spain. But one late-night YouTube search sent her down a rabbit hole that would change everything.

Today, Ulonda calls Zaragoza, Spain, home.
