    - 2 Chronicles 29: 15-19: They gathered their brother Levites, consecrated themselves, and went to cleanse the House of the Lord, as the king commanded by the words of the Lord. The priests entered the inner part of the Lord’s house to cleanse it. They brought every unclean thing that they found in the Lord’s temple out into the courtyard of the House of the Lord. The Levites took it and carried it out to the Kidron Valley. On the first day of the first month, they began to consecrate the temple. By the eighth day of the month they had gotten as far as the porch of the Lord. They continued to purify the House of the Lord for eight more days. On the sixteenth day of the first month, they completed the work. They went in to King Hezekiah and said, “We have cleansed the entire House of the Lord, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the table for the presentation of bread and all its utensils. We have prepared and consecrated all the utensils which King Ahaz discarded during his reign, when he was unfaithful. Look! They are right there in front of the altar of the Lord.”

    - O God, You Search Me and You Know Me Psalm 139: O God, you search me, and you know me All my thoughts lie open to your gaze When I walk or lie down, you are before me Ever the maker and keeper of my days. You know my resting and my rising You discern my purpose from afar And with love everlasting, you besiege me In ev'ry moment of life or death, you are. Before a word is on my tongue, Lord You have known its meaning through and through. You are with me beyond my understanding God of my present, my past and future, too. Although your Spirit is upon me Still I search for shelter from your light. There is nowhere on earth I can escape you Even the darkness is radiant in your sight. For you created me and shaped me Gave me life within my mother's womb For the wonder of who I am, I praise you Safe in your hands, all creation is made new. - B. Farrell, b. 1957
    - Isaiah 55: 1-11: Hey,all of you who are thirsty, come to the water, even if you have no money! Come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. 2 Why do you spend money on something that is not bread? Why do you waste your labor on something that does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good. Satisfy your appetite with rich food. 3 Turn your ear toward me, and come to me. Listen, so that you may continue to live.Yes, I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the faithful mercies promised to David. 4 Look, I appointed him as a witness for peoples, a leader and commander of peoples. 5 Look, you will call out to a nation you do not know, and a nation that does not know you will run to you, on account of the Lord your God, because of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you. 6 Seek the Lord while he may be found! Call on him while he is near! 7 Let the wicked man abandon his way. Let an evil man abandon his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will show him mercy. Let him turn to our God, because he will abundantly pardon. 8 Certainly my plans are not your plans, and your ways are not my ways, declares the Lord. 9 Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my plans are higher than your plans. 10 Just as the rain and the snow come down from the sky and do not return there unless they first water the earth, make it give birth, and cause it to sprout, so that it gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 in the same way my word that goes out from my mouth will not return to me empty. Rather, it will accomplish whatever I please, and it will succeed in the purpose for which I sent it.
    - Hymn 396 - If God Had Not Been On Our Side
    - Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above: C. Fuller 2009 Sing praise to God who reigns above, the God of all creation. The God of power, the God of love, The God of our salvation; With healing balm my soul he fills, And every faithless murmur stills: To God all praise and glory. What God’s almighty power hath made, His gracious mercy keepeth; By morning glow or evening shade his watchful eye ne’er sleepeth. Within the kingdom of his might, Lo! All is just and all is right: To God all praise and glory. Let all who name Christ’s holy name give God all praise and glory; Let all who know his pow’r proclaim aloud the wondrous story! Cast each false idol from its throne, the Lord is God, and he alone: To God all praise and glory. J.J. Schütz, 1640-1690, tr. F.E. Cox, 1812-1897
    - Revelation 3: 17-20: 17 You say, “I am rich. I have become very wealthy and need nothing.” But you do not know that you are miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. 18 I advise you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments, so that you may be clothed and the shame of your nakedness may not become public, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. 19 I rebuke and discipline those whom I love. So take this seriously and repent. 20 Look, I stand at the door and I am knocking. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will go in with him and dine with him, and he with me.
    - Have Ye Heard the Invitation?: B. Kornelius, 2020 Have ye heard the invitation, sinners ruined by the fall? Famished souls who seek salvation, have ye heard the loving call? Hark! A herald of the Father bids you of his supper taste. Round the sacred table gather, all is ready; sinners, haste! O ye chosen, have ye slighted this sweet call to you proclaimed? Lo! The King hath now invited all the halt, the blind, the maimed: “Come, ye poor from out the highways, come, a feast awaits you, come!” Leave the hedges and the byways, hasten to the Father’s home. We have heard thee call, dear Father, in thy Word and sacrament; round thy festal board we’ll gather till our life’s last day is spent. Ours the risen Savior’s merit, ours the bounties of thy love, ours thy peace, till we inherit endless life in heav’n above. A. Hoppe, 1919

Listen, so that you may continue to live.

    - Romans 3: 19-24: Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

    - Exodus 14: 21-30: Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided. So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.” And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained. But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

I also will do likewise.’ You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
