    • Offseason Questions FINALLY Get Answered! Saints Take On Lions to Open 2026

Mario Jerez and Erin Summers get you ready for the Saints' Week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions, beginning by paying tribute to the late Mike Detillier before diving into the biggest questions surrounding Kellen Moore's team entering the season.

Did the Saints' strong finish to 2025 signal the beginning of something real? Will the massive investments in Kendre Edwards and Travis Etienne pay off? Can the defense build on its surprising success from a year ago? And what should we realistically expect from Tyler Shough in his first NFL season opener?

The guys also break down the numbers behind these two teams, including the glaring rushing-offense disparity that explains New Orleans' offseason spending, plus the Saints' impressive pass defense from 2025.

Then it's matchup time: Kelvin Banks Jr. vs. Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young vs. Penei Sewell, the new-look Saints linebacking corps vs. Jahmyr Gibbs, Chris Olave vs. the Lions secondary and Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. the Saints DBs. Can New Orleans pressure Jared Goff without relying heavily on the blitz? Can the Saints slow down Detroit's explosive passing game? And can the offense get off to a better start after struggling early in games last season?

Plus, Week 1 betting lines and player props courtesy of FanDuel, and plenty more as the Saints officially begin the 2026 season.

      • Saints Final 53: Biggest Surprises, Audric Estimé’s Opportunity & Week 1 vs. Lions

Mario Jerez, Spanish play-by-play voice of the New Orleans Saints and a native New Orleanian, is joined by seasoned Saints and NFL reporter/analyst Erin Summers to react to the final roster and everything we learned during the preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Saints are heading into Week 1 at Detroit as 6.5-point underdogs, with a +265 moneyline. Mario and Erin discuss the roster moves that stood out most, including Kevin Austin Jr. making the team over Bub Means and Trey Palmer, Alvin Kamara and Cam Jordan avoiding the injured reserve, and the Saints carrying four running backs — including Audric Estimé.

        • Saints Trade for Runningback, Sign Vet Kicker after Ugly Loss in LA + Is Kellen Moore Too Chill?

The Saints have one more preseason game before the regular season, but there are plenty of questions to address after an ugly showing against the Los Angeles Rams.

Mario Jerez and Erin Summers break down what went wrong, from 12-men-on-the-field penalties and an illegal formation on fourth down to a Saints defense that failed to record a single hit on the Rams' quarterback despite 43 pass attempts. Is it simply preseason rust and fatigue after joint practices, or are some of these issues more concerning?

The guys also discuss whether Saints head coach Kellen Moore's calm demeanor is a concern, especially compared to the more fiery personalities we've seen lead the franchise in the past. Plus, should the starters play in the final preseason game against the Cowboys? Mario explains the players he absolutely does NOT want to see on the field.

Special teams is another major concern, with the Saints struggling to find consistency at kicker. After Tanner Brown missed a 39-yard field goal and Charlie Smyth struggled the previous week, the Saints signed veteran kicker Daniel Carlson.

On the positive side, Kendre Miller looked healthy in his return, Alvin Kamara showed encouraging signs during his pregame workout, and the Saints added running back Zamir White in a trade with the 49ers to bolster the position amid injuries.

Plus, Will Sherman gets a look at center, Lorenzo Styles works at outside cornerback, and Barion Brown surprisingly doesn't see the field.

        • Alvin Kamara's Injury, Joint Practice Takeaways and Depth Concerns

Alvin Kamara is expected to miss one month with a MCL injury, leaving the Saints with new depth questions at running back. Mario Jerez and Erin Summers break down Kamara’s injury, what it means for the Saints and the remaining backs.

(7:50) With a groin injury to starting cornerback Quincy Riley, who slides in? Mario makes a case for offseason addition Martin Emerson Jr as the best option. Regardless of who, there has been a clear emphasis for this defense on takeaways with several coming this week against the Cowboys and Rams.

(13:00) Erin brings up her concerns on the offensive line and the pass rush as Tyler Shough was sacked five times during the joint practice with the Rams Thursday. Mario counters with the need to be patient with the run game.

(24:35) Mario and Erin shares their biggest areas of concern regarding depth and performance heading into preseason game number two against the Rams Saturday.

        • Jordyn Tyson Injury Changes Everything, Saints Preseason Opener Takeaways

The Saints’ preseason opener came with some encouraging performances — but the biggest news afterward was a major gut punch.

Rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is expected to miss around two months with a hamstring injury, putting his availability for the start of the regular season in serious question. Mario Jerez and Erin Summers discuss Tyson’s injury history, Kellen Moore’s explanation that this injury was different from Tyson’s previous hamstring issues, and whether there’s reason for optimism despite another setback.

How much does Tyson’s absence change the Saints’ offense? Does Chris Olave now face significantly more pressure? Who steps up as the potential WR2? And should New Orleans consider adding a veteran receiver?

The guys also break down the Saints’ 24-20 preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, including:

          • Zach Wilson’s impressive performance and whether the backup QB competition could become more interesting.
          • A disappointing night for Spencer Rattler, who struggled to generate explosive plays and made some costly mistakes.
          • Bub Means continuing to make his case with a strong 4-catch, 77-yard performance.
          • Ty Chandler’s 86-yard kickoff return getting the Saints off to a fast start.
          • Jaylon Ford, Martin Emerson Jr. and Jayden Price making plays on defense.
          • Why Martin Emerson could be one of the Saints’ most underrated offseason additions.
          • Michael Heldman’s dominant night with two sacks and three tackles for loss.
          • Barion Brown showing more of the playmaking ability we’ve been hearing about throughout training camp.
          • Why Mario believes the Saints need to get Bryce Lance on the field in the next preseason game — and why Lance’s college production is impossible to ignore.
          • The latest on Christen Miller after his impressive preseason debut was cut short by injury.
          • Plus, the Saints turn the page toward their second preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams.
