Being able to find the connections between two different ideas is a key to rapid growth and expands your ability to help others. In this episode we share some of the things we learned from Brendon Burchard’s Influencer 2019, and how those things apply directly to Blended Families.
We are leading a Crusade to eliminate the cycle of divorce that plagues our society. All that would happen for evil to take over in the world, is for good people to say nothing. In a similar way, all that would have to happen for something to change in this world is for one generation to decide to do something different. The pain and heartache experienced through divorce can be eliminated in one generation. All it takes is one generation to do something different.
Our Crusade is about building and leaving a legacy. A legacy of core values and principles that live on far after we leave this earth. We hear about those who come from privilege or advantage. We hear statistics about how a persons zip coat is the number one factor that predicts a persons success in life and what they accomplish in life. But people rise above the statistics of their zip code and environment everyday. How do they do it? They most often do it because a persons real privilege or advantage does not come from how much money they grew up with, what school they attended, or the color of their skin. They rise above because the greatest predictor of our success comes from the parents and mentors we had and what they taught us to believe about ourselves.
Legacy’s are built by being present and parenting on purpose. One of the most emotional times for me at the conference was listening to Brendon share stories about the things his parents taught him intentionally. It was such an emotional moment when he brought his Mother on stage to be recognized.
Brendon Burchard, Rachel Hollis and others shared some many stories about the people in their life that just showed up. That’s what our kids will remember. They will remember that we cared enough to show up. They will not remember most of the things you did. They will not remember the words you say. You will not be perfect, but they will remember that you showed up.
In this episode we share these thing and many other insights related to blended families that we took this years influencer conference.
