This book, first published in 1932, is the first detective novel with an all-Black cast, set in Harlem. It follows Detective Perry Dart and Dr. Archer investigating the murder of Frimbo, a psychic African prince, whose body disappears, leading to complex twists involving superstition, identity, and the underground numbers game.
