This Sunday we'll consider the Lord's Supper and the astonishing grace behind this meal. Jesus willingly drank the cup of God's judgment so that His people might receive the cup of blessing. As we come to the Table, we'll consider what it means to commune with Christ, to belong wholly to Him, to examine ourselves in faith and repentance, and to look forward to the day when we will feast with Him forever at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

The sermon explores the believer's true identity as a saint and the source of all spiritual blessings found exclusively in Christ. Contrasting human reliance on government or self-improvement with divine sovereignty, it emphasizes that salvation and standing before God are gifts of grace rather than results of works. If God created man male and female on the sixth day, where does a second creation of man come from? Ask why God takes both accounts up again here and says it once more, in the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him. Ask what is left of a doctrine that needs two Adams once those words stand. Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

This Sunday we celebrate one year being in our new building! As great a blessing as it is to have a place to call our own, this anniversary is a reminder of what is even more important. Jesus does not promise to build a physical building, but rather he's building a spiritual people. Jesus is building us together, as living stones, into a spiritual house for his glory. And as we thank God for the building we worship in, we celebrate even more that he is building us up upon Christ our cornerstone.

Believers are called to trust the Lord in every circumstance, rather than relying on their own understanding, and as they walk in the fear of the Lord, they experience the blessing and refreshment that comes from Him.
