🔥 FTX What is going on?

🔥 Where there is fire there is smoke. Speculation mounted over the weekend about the solvency of extreme left-leaning billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX crypto exchange. CoinDesk published the balance sheet of FTX’s sister company Alameda Research was loaded with FTX’s native exchange token FTT.

🎩 Tokens created out of thin air

An article by Coindesk here https://lnkd.in/dXeREY3S states Alameda had $14.6 billion of assets as of June 30, according to a private document CoinDesk reviewed. Much of it is the FTT token issued by FTX, another Bankman-Fried company. Cory Klippsten, CEO of investment platform Swan Bitcoin said “It’s fascinating to see that the majority of the net equity in the Alameda business is actually FTX’s own centrally controlled and printed-out-of-thin-air token,”

📛 The turmoil surrounding the crypto exchange FTX exchange has

made user withdrawal complaints amid major token movement. Rumours emerged about the former exchange becoming insolvent & holding an illiquid balance sheet.

💥 He mentioned the Labour Market demand strongly outweighs the Supple so a recession in the USA is most likely not going to happen soon. He also shared concern about high inflation in other parts of the world particularly a few parts of Europe & UK. A key point to note is The Committee anticipates that ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate to attain a stance of monetary policy that is sufficiently restrictive to return inflation to 2 per cent over time. The fact that nine banks are involved has a strong degree of Centralization.

🚨 CoinShares weekly blog via Medium states the apathy continues with inflows of US$6.1m, but Bitcoin trading volumes doubled, Blockchain DXB also noticed a similar trend, especially over the weekend.

🚦 As per the article, The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland seems to be paying close attention to these developments, as they recently published a paper titled, “The Lightning Network: Turning Bitcoin Into Money .”https://lnkd.in/d3JdKRGz & The 18-page working paper by Anantha Krishna Divakaruni & Peter Zimmerman has some interesting points such as mixed evidence on increased centralization in the Lightning Network has improved its efficiency.

💡 The findings also suggest that the off-chain netting benefits of the Lightning Network can help Bitcoin to scale and function better as a means of payment. But LN does solve the Blockchain Trilemma problem.
