Dr. Erwin Lutzer spoke at the Waukesha Expo for the VCY America Rally on March 18th, 2023. His topic was We Will Not Bow.

Dr. Lutzer is Pastor Emeritus of The Moody Church where he served as the senior pastor for 36 years. He’s the speaker on the radio programs Running to Win and Songs in the Night. He is a speaker and an award-winning author on several books. Some of his titles include The Cross in the Shadow of the Crescent, Life Changing Bible Verses You Should Know, We Will Not Be Silenced, No Reason to Hide and The Power of a Clear Conscience.

Dr. Lutzer began by mentioning Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who told an interesting story.  Solzhenitsyn said that in 1937 a speech was given by someone who extolled the virtues and the greatness of Stalin.  When he finished, everyone rose to clap.  Solzhenitsyn described how this went on for several minutes.  Under such circumstances, who’s going to sit down first?  After 11 minutes of non-stop clapping, the director of a paper factory stopped his clapping and sat down.  Everyone else then stopped as well and sat down.

That same night the director of the paper factory was arrested and sent to prison for 10 years.  During his interrogation he was told never to be the first one to stop clapping.

Dr. Lutzer said, “How does freedom die?  Solzhenitsyn would say with thunderous applause; everybody clapping at the Soviet system.”

Dr. Lutzer then asked if America is being “sovietized”?  Victor Davis Hanson asked that question and he indicated that in the Soviet Union it wasn’t merit that enabled people to climb the ladder.  Instead, it was loud enthusiasm for the communist system.

Today, if you want to teach at a university, you’ll be asked if you’re willing to “sign-on” to the diversity studies, identifying people via multiple pronouns and are you “on-board” with the LGBTQ community.  In other words, today it’s not about competency, but loud enthusiasm for the orthodoxies of the day.  

However, as Dr. Lutzer noted, what we’re seeing is not new.  He pointed to Daniel 3, and as you’ll hear, he brings attention to a portion of this chapter that contains one of the most profound statements of faith in all of the Bible concerning the providence of God.  

Will you stand up and clap or will you sit down?  In other words, do you fear God more than you fear the fire of the present ideology of the world; an ideology that trumps biology, science and common sense?  Have your faith built up as Dr. Lutzer looks at this force that’s pressuring us to bow down and then note carefully how we are to respond as he teaches from God’s Word.

Today comes with another warning. This time it pertains to the occult and specifically with the fantasy role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. This is the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons which was birthed in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was the first widely-old fantasy role-playing game. According to its publisher, Wizards of the Coast, it has been played by 50 million people around the world.

This weekend they are celebrating with the Dragon Days Fantasy Festival at multiple sites in downtown Lake Geneva. This past Sunday, September 22nd, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel featured their entire front page to Dungeons & Dragons, and there were multiple pages inside the Sunday edition also devoted to it. One of the articles they wrote indicated that Dungeons & Dragons is more influential now than ever before.

So what exactly is Dungeons & Dragons? Are there occultic connections to this game? And what are the concerns for Christians participating in Dungeons & Dragons?

To open the program, Jim noted the appreciation so many VCY listeners have for the traditional, sacred music played on the network.  Such music is often comprised of hymns and spiritual songs that direct our hearts to the Lord as we praise Him for who He is and His wonderful works.  So while Christian music can cover a broad range of doctrinal and theological topics, unfortunately in the church at large, hymnody has fallen out of favor in our day.  

Why is this?  It may be because we have it so easy in our day whereas hymns were often written out of trials, suffering, longing and need.  There’s the fact that Christian music today is often derived primarily from the writer’s emotions.  Then there’s the factor of commercialism.  As these factors have affected Christian music, guess what got left out?  It’s the topic of heaven.  Review this broadcast and find out what your personal and corporate worship may be missing as David and Barbara describe the tremendous blessing that comes from singing the hymns of heaven!

Wade struck down. Most recently in the One Big Beautiful Bill, funding is being pulled from Planned Parenthood. We know there is a court challenge to stop this, but its passage is inevitable. Over 30 Planned Parenthood Centers have announced their closure this year and there are more to come.

In so many states babies continue to be targeted in the womb and tragically, according to numberofabortions.com, we are approaching nearly 67 million lives lost. I’m grateful for individuals and organizations that continuously turn our attention to this matter of life.

One such entity is the Life Issues Institute founded in 1991 by Dr. Jack Wilke and Brad Mattes. In 2003 the reins were handed over from Dr. Wilke to Brad, and now in 2025 the reins are being turned over once again. We’ll talk about that today, but keep in mind that the very heartbeat of this organization remains to continue the battle for life.

As a matter of fact, just 9 months ago, Voice of America ran a story titled, “Muslim candidates surge in local elections in US.” CBN recently ran a story in which they quoted Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Amichai Chikli, who said, “I think it’s very important for Americans to understand that there is a plan of the Muslim Brotherhood. They have a vision, in 100 years, to make America a Muslim state.”

And yet with the trajectory we are presently on, it will take far less than 100 years for this to happen. We’ve got many stories to bring to your attention today, all which focus on Islam’s push for world domination.

Jordan Cernek is a former teacher in the Argyle School District in Lafayette County, WI who was let go for not using correct pronouns. He is now a bi-vocational pastor ministering to the Nora Community Church and the McConnell Community Church.

In Romans chapter 1 starting at verse 21 we read, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,”

In verses 24 and 25 we see, “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator…”

Then in verses 26 and 27 we read, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly…”

Finally in verse 28 we read, “…God gave them over to a reprobate mind…”

This is exactly what is happening in our culture today!

In this program we were introduced to two pastors who are concerned about what’s happening in their community. This is followed by a person who was let go for not using proper pronouns.

Jim was back at the microphone and with the help of the Crosstalk team, he relayed many stories for listeners to consider.  Below is a sample of what can be heard:  

–French President Emmanuel Macron took to X yesterday to announce his intention  for France to become the State of Palestine (recognize the State of Palestine) at the U.N. General Assembly next September.

–Iran confirmed on Monday it will not give up its nuclear enrichment program.

–A foreign national from Lebanon has been sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison  for conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and the Iranian transactions and sanctions regulations when he attempted to smuggle U.S. made drills into Iran. 

–The U.S. will examine “alternative options” to bring home the 50 captives held by Hamas as the terrorist group “does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good faith,” according to U.S. Mideast Envoy Steve Witkoff.

–The U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Columbia have unsealed a civil forfeiture action targeting approximately 2 million dollars in digital currency allegedly tied to a Gaza based terror finance network.

–Newly released Israeli Defense Forces footage exposes Hamas operatives living in luxury beneath Gaza’s devastated streets, feasting on elaborate meals in well-stocked underground tunnels while the terrorist group simultaneously spreads propaganda, claiming that Israel is starving the Palestinians. 

–A woman in her 70’s was indicted for an alleged attempt to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

–Columbia University will reportedly pay more than 220 million dollars to the Trump administration to settle civil rights violations that were committed against Jewish students amid anti-Israel protests at the school 

–A new congressional investigation has revealed that over 900 million dollars    in U.S. taxpayer funds were funneled through federal agencies and non-profit organizations to support protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

–Columbia University has expelled, suspended and revoked degrees of multiple students for participating in what it described as disruptive protests in the Spring of 2024 and earlier this year. 

–The Israeli Kinesett voted overwhelmingly Wednesday in favor of a non-binding resolution declaring the support for the application of full Israeli sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley.

–Planned Parenthood has permanently shut down a center in Tyler, Texas.

–The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, under the leadership of Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., announced a major initiative to begin reforming the organ transplant system following an investigation by its Health Resources and Services Administration that revealed disturbing practices by a major organ procurement organization. 

Other stories dealt with controversial comments from former President Obama, a pastor killed in Syria, new trade deals from President Trump and much more, including thoughts from callers.

Recently, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, released a declassified file that she indicates contains overwhelming evidence that former President Barack Obama and his national security team manufactured and politicized intelligence pertaining to Russian collusion.  This goes back to when candidate Donald Trump was accused of colluding with Russia in order to influence the 2016 presidential election.  Gabbard indicated that she’s submitted a criminal referral to the Department of Justice and as such, the Justice Department has formed a strike force to assess the evidence.  

Returning to Crosstalk to discuss this latest news was Robert Knight.  He’s a former Los Angeles Times news editor and columnist for the Washington Times as well as other publications.  Robert has had senior positions in a number of pro-family organizations.  He’s written several books including, The Coming Communist Wave: What Happens if the Left Captures All Three Branches of Government, Liberty on the Brink, Crooked: What Really Happened in the 2020 Election and How to Stop the Fraud and, The Battle for America’s Soul.

Take the time to review this edition of Crosstalk as Robert reveals why this case truly does have the evidence behind it to qualify as a conspiracy.  As he points out, the FBI and other intelligence agencies assessed the idea that the Russians were colluding with the Trump campaign so that he would win the 2016 election.  They concluded that there was low intelligence (low value) so it probably wasn’t true.  However, they released the report saying just the opposite; that it had high value.  They leaked it to the press who then accused Trump of colluding with the Russians and hearings took place, all designed to cripple Trump’s presidency.

So what’s really going on here and why does it matter all these years later?  Was Russian collusion designed to not merely destroy Trump but to protect Hillary Clinton.  After all, wasn’t it her campaign that allegedly paid for the Steele Dossier that kicked this off?  Is it possible this was all a lie communicated from the top down beginning with President Obama?  If this is found to be treason, why does Robert believe President Obama is not likely to be charged?  

There’s so much to sort through on this issue but Robert is following it closely.  Hear what he had to say as well as how listeners responded.
