Tip / Quick Win – One small actionable thing your audience can try today. Gardening niche example: “Squeeze a tomato leaf and smell it before you buy the plant to know if it’s healthy.” Remember to keep it to a single thing to make the tip sound extra special. Behind the Scenes – Messy, in-progress, real images and anecdotes of what you do and what is going on in your life. People love to see behind the scenes. Gardening: a phone shot of your sad-looking seedlings with “Week 2, not winning yet.” Mistake / Confession – This is something you got wrong, ideally recently. It really helps to build trust with your audience. Be transparent even when it’s hard! Gardening: “I killed three basil plants before I realized I was overwatering. Here’s what I do now.” Question for the Audience – Make it a real question, not a rhetorical one. Of course, encourage comments. Throw in a random question now and again just for fun. Gardening: “What’s the one plant you keep killing no matter what you do?” Cooking (or random!) “If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?” Show and Tell – Something you noticed, found, or are using right now. Doesn’t have to be deep. Gardening: a photo of a weird-looking vegetable at the farmers market: “Does anyone know what this is?” Throwback / Before and After – What something used to look like vs. today. Progress content performs great across every niche. Gardening: “My garden bed last spring vs. this week.” or “My garden bed before vs. after the rainstorm yesterday.” Mythbuster – A thing people commonly believe in your niche that’s wrong (or oversimplified) “You don’t actually need to water tomatoes every day. Here’s what I do instead.” Or “Most people believe X is the only cost to X but there is another.” Recommendation – A tool, book, person (tag and credit them, of course), product, or resource you use and love. Could be sponsored or not. Gardening: “This $4 pair of pruners has lasted me five seasons. Seasonal / Timely – Could be news. Whatever is relevant right now in your niche. Easy to come up with, easy to engage with. Do a quick Google search of a term in your niche with “news” after it if you’re struggling to think of something. Gardening: “It’s the last week to plant X if you want a harvest before October.” Or what gardening convention is coming up next in each part of the country. Testimonial – This is simply repeating excitement, success, or appreciation. Anything from praise you’ve received to things strangers are excited about.
