This week on Blokes in Mining, Drew and Dave are back in the saddle — one running on coffee and chaos from night shift, the other casually rubbing shoulders with rugby league royalty.

Dave checks in from the land of backwards body clocks, grinding through night shift while the rain keeps hammering down across site. It’s wet, it’s messy, and it’s a proper reminder that mining doesn’t stop just because the weather’s turned feral.

Drew, meanwhile,’s been off the tools and into the suits — heading along to Matt Rogers’ 50th and somehow managing to bump into a handful of NRL legends. If you like a bit of shameless name-dropping, you’re in for a treat.

There’s another instalment of Dave’s Diary, the boys yarn about training (and trying to stay disciplined when the roster’s flipping you upside down), and the usual no-BS chat about what it’s really like working FIFO when the conditions are average and the motivation’s even worse.

Last one for 2025 — and we’re going out the only way we know how.

Drew’s on holidays, so we cover the important stuff: the best burgers, golf with the boys, and why that’s basically self-care on site. Dave digs into training assessments on camp, how dodgy qualifications get exposed, and the awkward reality of booting someone who shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
