Continuing the conversation with the refugee woman, Gema at the cemetery, Firn tentatively agrees to perform the burial rites of her brother. The woman asks that the prayer indicate that her brother would be sent to a City of the Dead known as Bana. The woman tearfully thanks Firn and heads back in the direction of the camp.
A man comes out of a chapel near the graveyard and asks Firn and the party about their business here since the Mielu are not scheduled to visit for another 5 weeks. He says he will relay Firn's name and the town where she comes from to the next Mielu.
Your group decides to head towards the refugee camp and you pass an old ruined guard tower near the edge of the forest, but find nothing of interest there.
You reach the guards at the entrance of the camp and they allow you to enter temporarily but make you sign your names, of which everyone makes a fake.
Inside the camp you notice that the Aigrei refugees seem to be segregated off into one corner of the camp with perfectly constructed tents set on a grid. The rest of the camp seems to be filled with humans who either have their tents in circles around a firepit or randomly where there is space. This is the 9th night of the camp.
There are a few signs of tents that have burned down, but they are covered up or ignored.
Confidence (as Georgiana) asks two women that say that the guards have reported Azhiraxu(pa) scouting parties that have been shooting burning arrows into the camp. One woman mentions that most of the victims have been humans, but there might have been an elf that was killed earlier on in the week before she arrived.
Ioanna spots a man that she is certain was a blacksmith around the corner from where she briefly lived in Grenna. The blacksmith, whose name is Raoul, mentions that in addition to the fires that have occurred there have been murders. People being pulled out of their tents, their throats slit. One man was beheaded and they found his fingers cut off and put on a string. She gives him 10 katspr
Imarra notices a man in a tent near the Aigrei that seems to be elven, but has solid orange eyes, with no iris, or pupil. Odi and Imarra approach the man's tent and the man looks away towards the ground. He tells them that he is from a city called Banan Bas on an island to the west. He is of a species called the Yeni of which he admits to being an outcast. He tells you that he encountered one of the men attacking the camp and managed to cut the man on his shoulder before he fled. After this encounter it seems that the attackers avoided this side of the camp and no longer attacked any of the Aigrei. The Yeni's name is Tamo.
It begins to rain. Odi and Firn decide to stay with Tamo while the rest of the group hops the fence of the camp and finds a spot to jump over the walls of Babbenberg.
Jar takes to Tamo very quickly and they learn that Yeni are incredibly sensitive to others emotions, which is part of the reason he decided to trust them so quickly. While they are there they see a couple of men that they recognize from the Archduke's ship hauling a large chest into the city.
Back in the city Confidence speaks to a merchant who sells secondhand goods, many of which seem to be sourced from some of the refugees. The group heads down to the docks to find a bar and gain some intel.
Tamo tells Odi more about the Yeni. They have a very rigid and organized society that prides itself on the function of the society as a unit. Tamo doesn't talk much about why he was outcast, but says that it is a punishment that is intended to inflict a death sentence but he refused to willingly meet his fate and ran away to the western nations.
Firn asks Tamo what he knows about the Mielu. He says that occasionally Yeni take pilgrimages to Yuliaelus. They do not have "guiding stones" like the Mielu but they have a certain intuition on navigating throughout Kaios. He says that the island has island within the island, and lakes within lakes. A stairway down to a portal of the underworld. Tamo speaks of a city called Nianama which is allegedly bursting with life, both in the food and plants to the wild and chaotic culture of the people.
The first bar that the group enters is full of sailors and soldiers. They hear people talk about the murder of the Bataras Guild leader and how they suspect it was a job from their rival town Aestig.
At the second bar the group notices a young man who appears to be meeting with another man supplying food and weapons to the group organizing attacks on the refugees. The supplier leaves and the young man stays to drink. After awhile another man of some sort of high military rank meets with the young man and appears to be approving the actions of the attacking group.
