This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 3 Episode 3 of The Strain titled “First Born”. This episode, unlike many that we talk about, was actually pretty decent. Whether that had a hand in this being one of the more fun podcasts we’ve done (at least for us) you can be the judge. Things actually happened in this episode. The plot progressed. Granted the majority of the episode was just building to the last 10 minutes with nonsense, but at least things happened. We actually get to speculate a little bit about the story and not just how this show gets made. Thanks David Donnella and Rob Alesiani for the really fun chat.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 3 Episode 2 of The Straight titled “Bad White”. Another episode without much movememnt. Palmer is tring to refine the white and seeks out Abe to strike a deal. Dutch surfaces with a bunch of punks. Eph looks to get the Lumen and strikes a deal with Quinlan. If there’s something I missed, honestly, what does it matter. Thanks to Rob and David for the chats.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 3 Episode 1 of The Strain titled “New York Strong”. Much to our suprise, The Strain was renewed for a third season. If you listen to the podcast you know we don’t love the show, but after making it to the end of season one and trudging through season two, we are now honor bound to continue discussing it. Though we don’t enjoy the show, we thorougly enjoy the podcast. In the premiere we really didn’t learn anything new. It was more of a 5 minute checking in on people spread over an hour. Pretty typical episode actually. Thanks to Rob, David and Jolie for the laughs.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 2 episode 13 of The Strain titled “Night Train”. We’ve come to it at last. The season finale. Everything has been building up to this and there’s no way it can be disappointing right?  Wrong. This was mid-season level climax at best. This show is too spread out over too many episodes. Had they cut several episodes out of this season they’d have been better off. We finally got a major death, so that’s something. This was a good episode, but I’m so tired of safe choices. They’re boring. Next season really needs to make some big changes… and we’ll be here to talk about it. We want a good show and hopefully we get it.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Episode 12 of the The Strain entitled Dead End. We are getting down to it. The episodes have been getting better, but we still can’t get away from feeling like this is 10 episodes of show spread over 13 episodes. It’s gotten more fun overall and hopefully this season’s finale will do what needs to be done and start killing off some major characters. I want to think that no one is safe.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 2 Episode 11 of FX Network’s The Strain titled “Dead End”. This episode is one of the better of the season, but again the same issues remain. We got some Gus and Angel, but were missing Quinlan and, maybe even Palmer a little bit. Just two episodes left to wrap up this rocky season. Thanks to David and Rob for the laughs.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 2 Episode 10 of The Strain titled “The Assassin”. In spite of being full of a lot of the things that make me dislike this show, this was an overall good episode. They continue to be scared to make any really big moves, so many episodes become little to no movement. That was mostly the case here, but it was covered under a bunch of fun and, at times, even good scenes. This episode a particularly odd exchange that we had a little too much fun discussing. I left it all in. Thank you David and Joe the good times.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers Season 2 episode 9 of The Strain titled The Battle For Red Hook. I thought this episode was another step in the right direction. That’s not to say there’s been a series of sequential steps, just that this is another. I enjoyed the episode even though it was pretty predictable. I think Iliked it because it really started to feel like the show it should be… fun, campy, gory with some movement toward an overall purpose.

This episode of Bloody Sunday covers season 2 episode 8 of “The  Strain” entitled “The Intruders”. This week’s show was a two man job with me (Mike) and David Donnella sitting down to summarize, analyze and crack wise. Overall a pretty boring episode. After two weeks of some progress we get minimal movement this week. Some cool things happened, sure, but for the most part this episode was treading water and no where close to land yet.
